00:00We're going to reallocate money from the roads budget that's planned for the next Parliament.
00:05£300 million so we can really deal with the potholes, which are such a menace and actually costing motorists a huge amount of money because they damage their cars in these potholes.
00:15And so reallocating money looks like the right thing to do in tight times.
00:20There are a whole set of road projects that we would look at.
00:23There's one in Liverpool, for example, that's scheduled for something like £335 million and people think it's very poor value for money.
00:29So by being really prudent, reallocating money from the roads budget, we could tackle the pothole epidemic in our country.
00:38Yeah, but there are problems in a whole number of places.
00:41I mean, if you look at the record of some councils that are Conservative-run, Surrey County Council got a dreadful record taking over 200 days to fix a pothole.
00:51Conservative-run Hertfordshire has a very bad record on potholes.
00:55So this is a nationwide issue and so we do need more money from the centre, but we need to reallocate it from unnecessary roads.
