00:00The Department of Tourism continues to deceive tourists who travel to the Philippines

00:05despite the various challenges in tourism.

00:12In the continuous development of the tourism industry,

00:15there are challenges that tourism is facing in the Philippines.

00:18According to Tourism Secretary Christina Frasco,

00:21including here, getting a visa.

00:23Chinese tourists, for example,

00:25were added by the Department of Foreign Affairs

00:27the requirement to get a visa.

00:29We understand the policy direction

00:33as well as the decision of the Department of Foreign Affairs,

00:38especially that it is based on certain security components.

00:44And so, as part of the Department of Tourism,

00:50in terms of further attracting

00:53our well-performing traditional source markets.

00:58Connectivity or travel to the country is also a challenge,

01:01especially in the archipelago of the Philippines.

01:03Even the accommodation availability in the country

01:06is a big challenge for tourism.

01:08Philippine Hotel Owners Association said

01:11that in the next four years,

01:13they will develop 50 to 55 hotel projects

01:16that will add 15,000 rooms to the country's inventory.

01:20Our commitment is to help the government,

01:22to help the DOT expand the inventory

01:25and improve the quality of the facilities and services

01:29for accommodation establishments all over the country.

01:32When it comes to tourism competitiveness,

01:35the Philippines ranks 68th out of 111 countries in the world.

01:40This is based on the Travel and Tourism Development Index 2024

01:43overall rankings of the World Economic Forum.

01:46You are not necessarily in a bad position.

01:49Definitely innovation, sustainability is an issue

01:52where you have to work.
