00:00You're going to tell me you're going to turn it down.
00:07Yes.
00:08You get an opportunity to be an owner of an NFL team.
00:09You're going to say no?
00:10Yes.
00:11Why?
00:12Because I want to broadcast when I'm done playing.
00:14You want to broadcast.
00:15You're saying that right now.
00:16You want to broadcast.
00:17Yes.
00:18What do you want to do?
00:19I want to be right here and tell them about the game.
00:21The old ball coach, ladies and gentlemen.
00:26I want to do that.
00:27Welcome back to TMZ Sports, Mike Lucas and Edward.
00:32Most guys are not as that definitive about getting into the media after they retire,
00:37but not Travis Kelce.
00:38Of course, Travis Kelce was on his famous New Heights podcast with his brother, Jason
00:44Kelce, who, by the way, just retired and signed a deal with ESPN.
00:48So Jason Kelce getting into the media, and obviously, Travis Kelce, that's what he's
00:52going to do, too, when he finally does hang up the old shoulder pads.
00:55The question is, I guess, guys, would he be any good at the media?
00:59We've seen a lot of great players, and it doesn't necessarily carry over when they get
01:03behind the microphone.
01:05I don't know the answer to the question.
01:07I've never played professional football.
01:09Somebody who has is Eric Dickerson.
01:11Eric Dickerson, who is not just one of the greatest running backs that we've ever seen,
01:16is also somebody who, back in the day, worked a couple of years for Monday Night Football,
01:22called some of the biggest games in the world as part of a top-notch broadcasting team.
01:27We recently ran into Eric, and we asked him, hey, Travis Kelce, would he be any good at this?
01:52For sure.
01:53He's played on great teams, and not just having a Super Bowl ring, he's been a big part of it.
01:58So he's a great football player, so that's the difference there.
02:01I mean, you could have some guys who have Super Bowl rings, but he's just on the team.
02:04Right.
02:05I mean, nothing.
02:06And to match the personality, too.
02:08I like his personality.
02:09We've seen him do everything, and he's been successful at everything.
02:12I mean, even when it comes to emceeing events, you know what I mean?
02:15Let alone hosting Saturday Night Live, and being the game show host, and being a reality
02:19TV star.
02:20So he can do whatever he wants.
02:21I think what we're seeing here, though, is the Tom Brady effect, and more so the Tom Brady
02:25contract effect.
02:26You guys remember that?
02:27He signed a reported $350-ish million deal to broadcast games for Fox.
02:32And I think that's where these ex-NFL players are realizing where the money's at.
02:36I mean, Jason is similar to Travis.
02:37He could have done anything in the world, and instead he picked Monday Night Football
02:40for ESPN.
02:41So I think Travis is in that same boat as Brady.
02:43I think he'd command that multi, multi, hundreds of millions of dollars to go to broadcast
02:47games, and that's where he wants to be.
02:49Ed, Lucas, don't you think I get the impression that the networks, ABC, Fox, CBS, they will
02:54all be tripping over themselves to sign Travis Kelce.
02:57I would think everyone would want to work with this guy.
03:00Of course.
03:01But to add to Ed's point that Travis Kelce can do everything, I love him.
03:07He's an Ohio boy.
03:08That's probably part of the reason why he's so successful.
03:09Oh, you know the shade's coming now.
03:10Let me put my papers down here.
03:12Okay, go on.
03:13I kind of want him to go into broadcasting and not be good at it.
03:16Because then it will actually show that he's a human being, and we can finally have something
03:20to hang our hats on and look at Travis Kelce and be like, look, there's the one thing he
03:25can't do.
03:26Because yeah, super rich, attractive, funny, aiding the biggest superstar in the world.
03:31Don't you feel like his personality, I feel like he would be great at it.
03:34I know I said some guys are not, but yeah.
03:37He's going to be so good at it, and best of luck to him in his future endeavors.
03:41But yeah, I would love to see just one little flaw here.
03:46Bye.
