Transcript
00:00England have qualified for the last 16 of the European Championship in Germany, thanks
00:05to results involving other teams over the previous two days of competition. This is
00:09because 16 teams of the 24 in the tournament progressed to the next round, with 4 of them
00:14being the best 3rd place finishers. England sit top of Group C on 4 points, which is a
00:19higher total than both Hungary in Group A and Croatia in Group B have achieved, meaning
00:24if England finished at worst in 3rd place at Group C, they would still be assured of
00:28a spot in the next round. A win against Slovenia in their final group match would see England
00:33top the group and likely face either Austria, Slovakia or the Czech Republic in Gelsenkirchen
00:38on Sunday. A draw against Slovenia plus Denmark defeating Serbia and bettering England's
00:44goal difference would mean finishing 2nd and facing Germany in Dortmund on Saturday. Finally,
00:50if England lost and Denmark won, or if Serbia won and overcame England's goal difference,
00:55it would be 3rd for England and either Belgium or Portugal at the start of July.
