00:00Almost 4,000 customers of Manila in Caloocan were able to receive a refund in July.

00:06The refund amounted to more than Php 500 according to the Metropolitan Water Works and Sewerage System Regulatory Office.

00:13This amounted to more than Php 2 million in fines in Manila due to the low quality of water in some barangays in Caloocan.

00:21Based on random sampling in some parts of Caloocan,

00:24from November 29 to December 19, 2023, a high level of coliform was found in a sampling site.

00:32Manila explained that the water may have been contaminated due to the lack of water pressure in their line there.

00:38They conducted pipe flushing, replaced the broken pipes, and closed the illegal connections of the water.

00:47The reason why it took us this long is because there's a process that we have to go through.

00:53We need to investigate, we need to get our laboratories to confirm the findings,

00:58and of course, we need to determine the actual customers affected.

01:02That's when we saw the failure or compliance in our water sampling.
