00:00Hey, Bobby Manning here, welcome to a Wednesday edition of the Garn Report.
00:10We are hours from the NBA draft and we're continuing to try to piece it all together,
00:16see what could happen here.
00:17It's going to be a crazy one.
00:18Matt Powers is here with us and we don't know who's going to be there at 30 for the Celtics
00:26at this point, but the good news is I don't even think anyone knows who's going number
00:31one in this draft, 100% yet.
00:36This could be one of the crazier draft nights in terms of movement, Matt, in terms of surprises,
00:41guys going in different spots where you might not expect them to.
00:44What's it just been like trying to figure out this class?
00:48Because it's been one of the more complicated or confusing ones I think that we've seen
00:53in a while.
00:54Yeah, it's been a lot of fun in my opinion.
00:56I love not having a consensus number one.
00:59Again, reminds you of the Edwards draft where I feel like it really proves you as an evaluator
01:04whether you can handle not having consensus to rely on.
01:08You have to really sort through the tape a lot and yeah, it's been fun.
01:14I think a particularly flat draft in particular, there's some kind of mixed opinions about
01:20how much depth there is, but I definitely think there are some interesting prospects
01:24for the Celtics still, despite it being kind of a weaker draft.
01:27Yeah, I guess that's the hope is that there might be some deeper guys who follow through,
01:33some underrated options at that spot at 30.
01:3730 is tough.
01:38It's always a tough spot and we'll see if the Celtics even stay in the first round here
01:41tonight, but let's go to the top first.
01:45Seems like Risa Shea has the momentum to go number one here to Atlanta.
01:49Is that what you're expecting at this point?
01:51I think it's totally wide open still.
01:54That's where most of the smoke is going, but I wouldn't be surprised if they tried to trade
01:59down a few spots and grab Klingon or somebody traded up to get Alex Saar.
02:07I wouldn't be surprised if Reed Shepard went first, honestly.
02:10I think it's that kind of open at the top where I don't think Risa Shea is that compelling.
02:18I'm much lower on him personally, so I imagine there's mixed opinions on him as well in the
02:24league.
02:25Who do you like to the Wizards at number two at that point?
02:33If Alex Saar is there, I imagine they don't think twice about it and take him just because
02:38he's the most exciting name up there.
02:41So I imagine Risa Shea is most likely still to go number one, Alex Saar number two.
02:47It seems like there's a lot of momentum for a Reed Shepard number three to Houston.
02:51I think that seems pretty likely, if it's an important need, it's just kind of like
02:57a glue guy there among their budding young stars.
03:04And as Windhorse was saying this morning, Klingon goes three.
03:08That's where you're like, ooh, what's going on in Houston based on some of the trades
03:12that went through last night and some Durant rumors going on there.
03:17That's where things could really get exciting.
03:18But Shepard's a really fun prospect.
03:20That's a guy probably in my top three, four that I'm excited to see this class.
03:26Spurs at four, maybe Castle, they need a point guard.
03:29I think that would make some sense there.
03:32Anyone in particular there you're hot on?
03:34Yeah, it seems like they would take Castle, just seems like such a Spursy pick.
03:39I am definitely a little more pessimistic on him as well.
03:43I don't know if he'll be able to truly play point guard as he wants to.
03:49He's kind of like the guard wing version of Jeremy Sohan in a lot of ways, where he's
03:53like a really smart defender.
03:56And he's a good passer, maybe can run some pick and roll, but the lack of an outside
04:00shot is not something I would love to pair around Wimby.
04:05I just prefer to keep some options open, but it does seem like that's who they're pretty
04:08focused on at four.
04:12Yeah, and they have eight as well, which we'll get to.
04:16Pistons, who do you think is a good fit there?
04:19It seems like a lot of people talking about Matus Buzelis there, which is like, if you
04:24expect him to shoot, he kind of struggled with outside shot.
04:27I think he's below 30% from three in the G League, but he shot a lot better in high school.
04:33So if they can get like a reliable spacer who can provide some like help side rim protection,
04:37help out Durant on defense a little bit, that makes sense to me, I think, yeah.
04:43Hornets.
04:44Hornets.
04:45Number six.
04:46Let's see.
04:47So yeah, I just, I'm pulling up the Bleacher board mock that just updated.
04:51They have Klingen going six to the Hornets, which would kind of, I don't know if that
04:56would make sense with Marco.
04:58I have no idea what they're going to do.
05:02Yeah.
05:03Yeah, I don't know.
05:04I couldn't, honestly, I'm like a really big Devin Carter fan and there's been a lot of
05:08noise about him in the lottery.
05:09I think that would be an interesting, a little bit of a reach as far as where his value is.
05:15But I like, love his game.
05:16He's a really tough defender.
05:17He's someone that would fit next to LaMelo pretty well, but I'd be surprised if Klingen
05:22fell out of this top six range.
05:26So I'd imagine he's off the board at some point.
05:28Yeah.
05:29This is a really interesting territory here because there's some teams in this mix here
05:33that have centers.
05:34You mentioned Williams, mentioned the Blazers at number seven.
05:38They already have eight in, they have Robert Williams there right now.
05:42So are they a Klingen team?
05:43And then Spurs, of course, have Wimbledon Yama.
05:46So is he going to be playing next to a bigger center?
05:48That would probably be the most intriguing Klingen team at that point.
05:53Who do you think is good at seven to Portland because they have just an array of players
05:59across the board.
06:00I think they're just probably taking whoever the best guy is out there.
06:04For sure.
06:05I'm like personally very, very high on Zach Eadie.
06:09He's actually my like controversial number one pick.
06:12So I, if you want to get someone who can like set big screens for Scoot Henderson, because
06:16that's like something that Aiden doesn't really do and just like get Scoot some more space
06:21to operate and get some like major rim pressure from him too.
06:26I think that would be interesting.
06:29But yeah, I think whoever they have highest on their board, they should just swing with.
06:34Yeah.
06:35And then you got the Spurs.
06:36Will they stay in that spot?
06:37Will they move?
06:38That's going to be an interesting question.
06:40At that point, you got Cody Williams at that spot, Dillingham, maybe Carter, if he's still
06:45available.
06:46Topic, who's of course got the ACL injury there.
06:51Who's kind of next in your mind at eight?
06:54I'd be really interested in Ron Holland's fit there.
06:58He's also kind of like not the most high quality shooter, obviously, but he provides so much
07:04rim pressure.
07:05I really like the idea of pairing Wimby with just like speed and just people who can like
07:09pressure the rim constantly.
07:12So I think he'd be a really strong fit.
07:13I think Rob Dillingham would be a lot of fun here too.
07:16Yeah.
07:17Just get, get him some players that can like get their feet into the paint basically.
07:24Nine is Memphis.
07:26I don't really know what they need.
07:28They pretty much have players across the positions.
07:31Klingon would be interesting here.
07:32Of course, they need to replace Steven Adams, I think, and try to get back to some of that
07:36dynamic they had with the two bigs there.
07:38So that's who I would love to see here.
07:41Hard to imagine he'd still be there at that point.
07:44Just given some of the hype around him.
07:46ESPN's got Cody Williams here.
07:50Obviously Carter's in this range.
07:52Dillingham again.
07:53Who out of that group, if Holland's going to San Antonio, let's say you like at Memphis?
07:58Yeah.
07:59I mean, I would love to see them trade.
08:01Like they would have to trade up to get Donovan Klingon, but that's like a perfect spot there.
08:04Again, I think, again, on my like ED kick, I think there's a small, like that's a perfect
08:09fit for him in Memphis.
08:11Just like having the defenders around him already.
08:15But yeah, I think it's like whoever from that top tier falls down, they can swing with.
08:21Yeah.
08:22Again, another decent Ron Holland fit because like his energy coming off the bench would
08:28be really special for them, I think.
08:30But yeah, I could see like Cody Williams if they just want to like swing on the tools.
08:37Yeah.
08:39I think there's a lot of like interesting options.
08:40I think the board's going to be pretty messy by this point already.
08:43Yeah.
08:44Yeah.
08:45We're already at that point.
08:46Utah.
08:47Wing, guard.
08:50There's even Walker Kessler.
08:51Are they going to hold on to him?
08:52So they could pretty much go in any direction here.
08:55As you mentioned, this is where it could really get wild.
08:57We haven't mentioned Connette from Tennessee, like if they want to keep stacking wings there,
09:02that's an option.
09:03Dillingham, of course.
09:04If they want to go in the guard direction, Topic, maybe at this point, if they just want
09:08to have a guy behind George and he's probably one of the more bankable prospects they have
09:13there at this point.
09:14We'll see how long marketing hangs on there at that point.
09:17Anyone stick out here to you?
09:19Yeah.
09:20Topic would be really interesting.
09:21I think they have the patience to wait on him.
09:24Yeah.
09:25Yeah.
09:26I think he can play together with Keontae, too, where they can both kind of like switch
09:29off ball.
09:30And yeah, they have kind of like very different strengths in different ways.
09:35Bowls at 11.
09:38So there's like the rumor that that's where Devin Carter was promised, which would be
09:42like a fun fit with like Alex Caruso out of there.
09:47Like somebody who can like pull up from deep is like a really improved jump shot, like
09:52very useful defender, switchable defender, just like a good basketball player and someone
09:57that they can use, you know, Thunder at 12 is interesting.
10:00We'll see if they stay.
10:01It's still surprising.
10:02They didn't have to move this or any of their picks for Caruso, but they could get another
10:08young piece here.
10:09Of course, Cody Williams would be fun pairing alongside his brother there.
10:14I think Guard, probably their best bet, but they could go anywhere here, really.
10:18Yeah, I think Khalil, Khalil Ware is like an interesting guy for them who's just like
10:24super talented, kind of still like has his limitations on defense.
10:29Like he gets like, I love him, but he can like I'd really trust his shot.
10:34He's like a really good like he destroyed the combine athletic testing.
10:38He seems like someone like really long wingspan that the Thunder would love to like help stretch
10:43the floor also.
10:44Yeah, that's one of those guys for Boston.
10:47It's like dream scenario.
10:49You get that kind of guy, but hard to imagine him staying past the lottery even at this
10:54point.
10:55You know, he's got the outline of Porzingis a little bit there.
10:58Yeah.
10:59Yeah.
11:00And the lob threat and all of that.
11:02He's one of my favorite guys in this draft, too.
11:04And now those kind of guys have worked out the last handful of drafts here, the rim runners.
11:08And he's even willing to take some threes, as you mentioned there.
11:11So look out if the Thunder get him, Kings.
11:16Um, I would love a wing for them.
11:23Um, again, this is like if Ron Holland somewhere else falls down this far, I know, like, keep
11:28repeating him.
11:29But that would be a fun, like defensive player for them to build around.
11:35Um, shoot, I don't know who I mean, I think Tyler Smith could be interesting.
11:39That'd be kind of like a little early compared to this draft range, but I'm like super high
11:44on him.
11:45Um, just someone who can, like, space the floor a little bit, play inside a little bit,
11:49maybe provide some rim protection.
11:51He like had decent passing stats, so he's not like a total ball stopper.
11:55Um, one of the, yeah, Ignite guys, basically, for him.
11:59Yeah.
12:00And then the boys just come up again.
12:03Um, again, wing, maybe here, big man, tough to imagine.
12:09Um, yeah, I think it's like connect fell, maybe would be a fun one.
12:16Just like another NBA ready guy who can, again, give scoot some room, like if they're, they're
12:22sticking with scoot, right, as like the, like their building block that they're building
12:27everything around, give him like a really good spacer.
12:29I see like Tristan, the Silva mock to him.
12:31That's a little early for me, but I liked the idea of just like really good spacer for
12:36them at this point.
12:37Yup.
12:38And a lot of interesting wings, all of us, six, five, six, six kind of guys in this draft.
12:43Um, there'll be interesting for teams like that.
12:46Jeremy grants there.
12:47How long is he going to stay there?
12:49It's a question, but I do think that's a good position of need for them and that position
12:52every team needs across the league, uh, the heat.
12:55They always seen the nail, these packs mid round, uh, so it'd be interesting to see who
13:00they go with here.
13:01You know, they'll probably have someone in mind that they really love.
13:04Yeah.
13:05I would love to see, I say a Collier there actually.
13:08Um, I think he's like, he's a really tough player.
13:11He can like fit into the, I think he's like pretty underrated as a defender too.
13:15Like someone that you can slot in pretty quickly to give you a ton of room pressure.
13:19Like he's a really like unbelievably quick, very strong.
13:22I just think they would like transform his game in an interesting way, basically 16 is
13:28Philly.
13:29Hmm.
13:30Um, yeah, I, I think one of the like young shooting prospects could be interesting just
13:38to give, to try to get a, like a long-term maxi pairing.
13:42So you go like either Bob Carrington or Jared McCain would be interesting, I think just
13:46as like elite shooting, young players with like kind of different shooting, like a skill
13:53sets, but both like really good at it in different ways.
13:5717th LA seems like they're going to stay here.
14:00Um, could go for some big depth, could go for some creators, Gabe Vinson that didn't
14:05really work out last year, nor did Houd Trefino, so they can stay patient with him or try again
14:10here.
14:11Yeah.
14:12I mean, one last second, you mentioned, but I like hearing a lot of rumors, like him as
14:18like a backup big to just, um, relieve, um, Anthony Davis here and there would be fun.
14:24Um, again, if where happens to fall here, just to give them some more big depths, I
14:28think that would be a really good fit to magic at 18, a lot of guards here could still use
14:34some more.
14:35Maybe Mark Hill folks gets away, uh, big man, depth Mo Wagner's free agent.
14:39We'll see if he sticks around.
14:41Defense potential here is well, um, anyone in particular, um, I, I'm not as like crazy
14:50about this spot from, I mean, again, if like Bob happens to like fall to them, but I think
14:56they need like game ready, like shooters, basically like jet Howard still seems to be
15:01taking a little while to come around.
15:04So again, like a Jared McCain, Bob Carrington type, just like get your shooting outside
15:08shooting fixed.
15:10Um, see if one of those guys works out.
15:13That's the way the Raptors went last year with Grady Dick.
15:16Um, we'll see what they do this time around.
15:19Uh, four spot, maybe could use some help.
15:22It's interesting.
15:23You probably want to put a raw shooting around Scotty Barnes.
15:25He can't go wrong with another shooting wing here.
15:27I would think.
15:29Yeah.
15:30There's a reason why that like Tristan De Silva is being mocked in the first round so
15:33much, even though he like, wasn't the most productive all around player.
15:36He's just like a hell of an outside shooter at six, nine, um, can take like no load threes.
15:42He's like, somebody just provides that instance spacing for them.
15:45Um, I'm a bit lower on him, but I think he'd be a really good fit with the Raptors.
15:50So we moved to 20 calves.
15:52Uh, I think, I don't think we mentioned George, you know, maybe, uh, maybe you, you end up
15:58seeing Garland go out the door here and they need another guard to come up the, uh, um,
16:04mix there.
16:05I think for, you may have mentioned McCain again, Carrington, um, Walter, we haven't
16:10really mentioned.
16:11I don't, they've needed a wing for a long time.
16:14Uh, we'll see how long they keep rolling with a coral here.
16:17So winger guard seems like the move here.
16:20Yeah.
16:21I think someone that might be a little bit of a reach based on where they're being mocked,
16:24but I think it would fit in really well and play like immediately.
16:27Well, there would be KJ Simpson from Colorado is just a really good on ball and off ball
16:33player.
16:34Um, gives them flexibility as like, he's a perfect six man.
16:37I think he's a really good scorer, hangs in defensively as like a good vertical athlete.
16:43Um, just someone you can slot next to Garland or Donovan Mitchell and like be successful.
16:50This is where it starts to get a little more clear.
16:52Again, the middle of the first is going to be pretty wacky from like 10 to 20, new Orleans,
16:5721 Valentuna seems like he's out the door here.
17:01So they're probably going to need a center.
17:03Maybe it's a Missy there from Baylor.
17:07Maybe if we're still there at that point, you go with him, but that seems like their
17:10biggest need in terms of development homes around this range too.
17:14It seems like.
17:15Yeah.
17:16I love their own homes.
17:17Um, he's someone who's like a bit of a tweener between power forward and center.
17:22Um, but also he's like probably the most versatile big in the class.
17:26So you can kind of like, again, gives you that flexibility.
17:30Um, Missy seems like a popular option.
17:32I think he's kind of like really raw and not really ready to contribute on very quickly.
17:37Um, Kyle Filipowski would be another good, like depth option among bigs for them.
17:4322.
17:44I don't think any team needs to nail their late first more than Phoenix, uh, and get
17:49a guy who's ready to contribute there.
17:51Uh, maybe you look at some of those wings we've tossed around, uh, Walter at this point,
17:57maybe, um, Ryan Dunn seemed to slate into this range, um, on a lot of boards.
18:04Anyone stand out that would fit well in Phoenix.
18:07I think, um, Baylor Shireman could be a really nice immediate fit.
18:11Just like shooting the most bankable shooting, um, can like, maybe it can hang in decently
18:17defensively.
18:18Um, let's see who else I, I'm a really big, um, Terrence Shannon jr fan, just like he's
18:25like such a great athlete.
18:27Productive, like college players.
18:30I think you would fit in really well, uh, bucks, a lot of buzz that they could move
18:35Lopez here and try to improve through that means that would open up certainly a need
18:41at big, uh, a lot of buzz Filipowski here, uh, the shooting next to Giannis and size.
18:47They love playing double big.
18:49That would make some sense to me.
18:50Seems like a guy who's a little, uh, more ready than some of the other guys in this
18:54range to, to step right in and contribute right away.
18:56And that's what they need in Milwaukee.
18:57Yeah.
18:58I, I really like, uh, Johnny Furphy as an option too.
19:02He's like, I think he's ready to be a spot up and cutter guy who like he won't get destroyed
19:08on defense.
19:09Like he's got some decent size, um, and he's still young enough that he has some upside
19:14left, um, and like maybe can handle some ball handling reps down the road, but right now
19:19it can be a pretty immediate, like spot up guy, I think.
19:22Let me get the back-to-back Knicks picks, uh, some done buzz here.
19:26Uh, I think we still have, uh, George on the board here.
19:31They got their wings certainly here.
19:33So maybe they're looking at big, if Hartenstein's out the door, uh, guard depth, always something
19:39teams need.
19:40So they could go in a bunch of different directions here.
19:42It's actually hard.
19:43I guess if a couple of guys go out the door here, uh, after that trade, uh, they're going
19:48to need some younger, cheaper guys.
19:50So they could use both of their picks.
19:51Um, are there two guys here that stand out?
19:54Yeah.
19:55Ryan Dunn comes up a lot for them.
19:57Um, I don't know if his like offense is ready to fit into the Knicks system.
20:02Um, but he's like a hell of a defender.
20:05He's like one of the best defensive wings I've, I think he's the best defensive wing.
20:09It's hard to see him getting past these two picks.
20:12Yeah.
20:13Yeah.
20:14I, just to throw out a name that's like, or a couple of names that are out of left field
20:18that I think they could take a little early.
20:20It would be Nikola Juricic.
20:22Um, he was Nikola Topic's teammate.
20:25Um, just like a really smart player, like versatile, um, really good passer can like
20:31really good driver, um, tough defender.
20:34I think he could fit in well.
20:36And also, um, Tristan Newton from UConn.
20:38I think some team could like reach on him just cause he's so NBA ready and he's got
20:43decent size, like good shot maker.
20:46I think I wouldn't be surprised if like him or Cam Spencer, as far as UConn guys, like
20:51one of them went way early than expected, just cause you have that ready, that availability
20:56of like, Oh, we saw exactly what it looks like for them to perform at a high level.
21:02This feels like some more center range here, uh, depending on who's the left wizards, uh,
21:07they got their couple of wings, Kulibaly, Saar probably going there, uh, guard, you
21:12could use some upgrade here too.
21:14I think this is a good guard range too, for them.
21:16Uh, so you have to think guard or big here.
21:18They have a lot of wings already that they're trying to give minutes to.
21:21Yeah.
21:22Yeah.
21:23Again, a good, like Shannon spot, um, good day run home spot.
21:26Um, good Phillip house to be spot, like whoever I would just take whoever falls, you know,
21:32Minnesota at 27.
21:34Um, I've heard a lot of, a lot of people like the KJ Simpson fit here.
21:40Um, again, that might be a little early to take on them, but to give them that like backup
21:44guard flexibility would be really nice.
21:46Um, I see Johnny for a fee, mocked them by bleacher report, which another like player
21:51that's pretty ready to play, but also has it upside.
21:55Um, they've been pretty smart with their draft picks in general.
21:59So I, let's, I don't know, I'm really curious who they take here.
22:0328.
22:04Uh, a lot of homes buzz here.
22:06If he's still there for Denver at this point, um, need to bake that behind yoga.
22:11She can't be playing a 48 minutes a night.
22:14Yeah.
22:15That's the perfect fit for them.
22:16Um, someone that can like move a little bit outside of the perimeter can space the floor.
22:21Some, um, can maybe give you some backup center reps.
22:25Um, I think I really liked Aaron Dylan Jones would be interesting there too.
22:31It's a guy who does a little bit of everything, um, at the wing spot, you know, maybe another
22:36attempt to replace Bruce Brown there.
22:37Uh, so that's another one I'll toss out there 29, Utah, uh, they could go in a million different
22:43directions again here.
22:44They, they, they'll just take whoever.
22:46Yeah.
22:47Yeah.
22:48I, it's tough to predict this one.
22:50I could see them taking Paco on daddy, the like young French player, um, who's another
22:56like four spacing wing, um, big wing, um, who has some like finishing upside, just swing
23:02on talent basically.
23:04Yeah.
23:05And that brings us to the Celtics.
23:08So we'll kick around some of the names who are left here.
23:10Uh, real quick, want to shout out our sponsors here at the garden report.
23:15Check out price picks, go to price picks.com slash CLNS and use that code CLNS for a hundred
23:20percent deposit match up to a hundred dollars.
23:23Pick two players, pick more or less on their projections and you're off.
23:26It's our official daily fantasy sports partner, women's basketball rolling along right now.
23:30You got baseball, still some sports going on this summer.
23:33So I have more fun with it, with price picks and use that code CLNS again for a hundred
23:37percent deposit match up to a hundred dollars and the game time app it's summer.
23:42There's a lot of events going on, no better app to get your tickets than game time.
23:46They're the best deals right up until even a little after game time, a last minute deals
23:51is there.
23:52Go to great views of your seats on the app here, which I always love.
23:55You're going to get $20 off your first purchase when you use the code CLNS terms apply against
24:00CLNS $20 off your first purchase terms apply at game time.
24:04So Celtics on the board 30 here, uh, funny enough, Matt, I feel like if the draft goes
24:12the way it did with daddy there at 29 and some of the other names we tossed off the
24:16board at this point, that just only reinforces in my mind, the case to trade back here, let
24:22some other team jump into the first round, get a guy that really like, uh, and maybe
24:25get a pick or two in that 40, 50 range there, uh, coming back or a future second beyond
24:31that.
24:32Um, so I have a hard time imagining them picking here, but if they stay here, a lot of interesting
24:39possibilities, Jalen Tyson, who I don't think has worked out for them, at least the court
24:43according to the list I've looked at is an interesting guy who's been connected to them
24:49on a lot of different mock drafts, including ESPNs at this point.
24:53I think he's a mold of a player that could really help them right away, but they're probably
24:57a team that's more willing to be patient on a guy who needs some time at this point to
25:02shooting, uh, possibly something they need at this point to, you mentioned Tyler Smith.
25:06Uh, I guess the guy who could maybe be someone that teams reach on in the middle of that
25:11first round, uh, he, if he's available at this point, it would be interesting.
25:17Just someone that behind the scenes can work on his game and the shootings there, which
25:21they like.
25:22And, uh, that one would surprise me a little bit, but if they're going to big man direction,
25:26that's probably the most talent that would be left at this point.
25:30I think of a guy like Mogbo at that spot as well, uh, who's been in their facility, who's
25:35worked out for them, um, a color if they like a wing.
25:39So there's a lot of options here, but the tough part for Boston is you can probably
25:44move back and get any one of the guys that we're going to kick around at this spot.
25:48But is there anyone that stands out in particular for Boston at 30?
25:52Yeah.
25:53I mean, I've, I'm Jonathan Mogbo's like biggest fan out there.
25:57So I, I saw he was mocked in the latest bleacher report this morning there at 30 as he's been
26:02kind of consistently moving up, but I think he'd be an awesome fit.
26:06He's like very switchable.
26:08Um, he, I think he'd fit in with the Celtics system right away.
26:12Like really, really intelligent passer, um, who also rebounds really well and like was
26:16second and dunks and the entire NCAA, it's a Zack Edie, despite being only six, six is
26:21like has a crazy catch radius.
26:23Um, I would, I would love to see him in Boston for sure.
26:27Yeah.
26:28And the interesting part about him is I've done three draft preview pods at this point.
26:33His name comes up every time.
26:35And it's interesting because he's six, six, so a little small for a five guy, if that's
26:40going to be his position shooting, will it be there for him?
26:44Didn't really take threes in college.
26:47So what kind of player, what kind of role do you see him becoming on a team like Boston?
26:52Yeah.
26:53He's, it's kind of tricky to figure out exactly how the role is going to work because he definitely
26:59has a four on defense, um, but he rebound like he, I don't think he has.
27:04So his, his backstory is he was like really short, like as a point guard, all in high
27:09school had a huge growth spurt and is now a big, um, I think he can work in the dunker
27:16spot a lot.
27:17I have trust in him.
27:18He's still like a 70% free throw shooter.
27:20So I don't think the three point shots, a totally foregone conclusion that won't work
27:25out when he was a guard, he would take like pull up threes and stuff like that.
27:29So maybe there's some like lag and coordination to get to that point where like he's an outside
27:34shooter.
27:35Um, maybe the Celtics have patience to figure that out.
27:37Um, but you can have him as like a rim runner, like cutting to the rim, like great, like
27:43bring the ball up in transition.
27:45He can kind of run some of those like delay top of the key stuff that like Al Horford
27:48does just kind of like going through, um, finding play finishers.
27:52Um, but yeah, I think he's, he's versatile enough.
27:56You can find a lot of like odd jobs here and there for him basically.
28:01Yeah.
28:02And he is close to 23.
28:03So is there room for growth?
28:05Is there upside there?
28:06That's another question.
28:07But the mold of the player, the passing ability certainly, uh, is something I think will intrigue
28:12them, especially if Luke Cornette shakes loose this off season, a guy who can do some high
28:17dribble handoffs and, uh, make some plays out of the role.
28:21That's all really intriguing for them.
28:22But again, they can probably move back a little bit and still get him at, I don't know,
28:2834 blazers have a couple of second round picks that they could consolidate in that top 10
28:32range.
28:33Uh, so they'd be a team to probably watch they're moving up.
28:35I'm trying to think of another team with like multiple second round picks.
28:39Maybe the Spurs really want someone there to get back into the first round jazz, certainly
28:44have a million picks in the future.
28:46So some of those teams that are within striking distance, daddy is really interesting there
28:50too.
28:51If he's still there at 30, would a team leap up and try to grab him?
28:56Uh, it seems like that's kind of his range there.
28:59So Mogbo, I don't think there's a lot of concern about him being gone at this point, but say
29:04he is who would be a backup option for Boston there at 30 or 34, wherever they end up in
29:10this range.
29:11Yeah.
29:12Um, again, like if any of like just the guys that we mentioned, if any of them fall, if
29:18you have like Phillip Palsky, Holmes, Terrence Shannon, um, Tyson, I like a lot.
29:24If any of those guys fall, I would not trade back and just like take the pick there.
29:29Um, but as far as guys that we've talked about that would be available, I think like Baylor
29:33Shireman would be a really good fit.
29:36Just to give you some flexibility in case Hauser leaves, um, another, like ready to
29:40play like great defender.
29:42I mean, great, um, rebounder.
29:43Okay.
29:44Um, yeah, but, um, yeah, I, I, I would just see who falls honestly.
29:52Um, there's a lot of different like directions they could go.
29:56Yeah.
29:57McCuller you mentioned would be a really good fit.
29:59I think he's like got some Celtics in them.
30:02Um, but yeah.
30:05Who do you like in the second round?
30:07Um, obviously 54 would be tough to project, uh, going back that far, if that's where the
30:12Celtics end up picking in the second round, uh, let's say maybe they move up a little
30:16bit in the second round to grab someone they like, wait for someone to drop into that late
30:20range in the second there.
30:21Uh, is there someone in that second round?
30:23You think maybe a project, maybe someone who, uh, could drop pretty far in this draft.
30:29I know this is, this is as tough to project of a pick as any here at 54, but a second
30:34round prospects, who would you like to Boston at that point?
30:38There's one name I hadn't mentioned that I, I actually, I'm high enough that I'd be
30:42fine.
30:43I'm taking him at 30 and there's a chance that he falls all the way.
30:46This far, I think is oh, so a good arrow out of market where they might like trade up from
30:50a little bit.
30:51He's like such a Celtics player.
30:54He's like perfect when you said it like smart passer, um, like can rebound, like protect
31:01the room a little bit, um, has like a killer floater, a talker communicator too.
31:07Yeah.
31:08Yeah.
31:09He's a Celtic in a lot of ways, so let me see if they can reduce the temptation to take
31:13him.
31:14But, um, yeah.
31:15Who else?
31:16We got Trey Alexander would be kind of fun.
31:19Um, Tristan Newton, I mentioned previously, he's just like a smart, like ball custodian.
31:25You can like throw out there pretty quickly.
31:27Um, AJ Mitchell would be really cool.
31:30It's just somebody that can run a lot of pick and rolls for them as like a backup point
31:34guard.
31:35Um, from UC Santa Barbara, so it didn't play at the highest level of competition, but just
31:40really good at like slicing through traffic, um, can hang in there defensively.
31:45Um, let's see who else?
31:47One like kind of deeper sleeper who I think might be available as probably will be available
31:52as undrafted free agent would be Dylan DeSue from Texas.
31:56He's another just like really smart switchable can pass his like developed an outside shot.
32:02I'm kind of really surprised he hasn't been talked about more as like a second round pick
32:07because he's like perfectly NBA ready.
32:10Um, he just like had a couple of ACL injuries, which is probably reducing his draft stock
32:15a lot or not.
32:16I think one ACL, I don't know, but, um, just a very versatile player who I think would
32:21fit well in the Celtics system also.
32:23Yep.
32:24And if they don't go mogbo at 30, you could go the Enrique Freeman route late in the second
32:30here too, if he's still there again.
32:32So many guys in this draft who could go 50, 35, 30, 45.
32:39Like there's just a massive range on a lot of these guys, especially between rounds here.
32:43So I think some of the names we kicked around in the late first round, Shireman, uh, Shannon
32:50done even maybe he's there at 30, but it doesn't really seem like a Celtic anyway with the
32:54offensive concerns.
32:56A lot of those guys, I think Filipowski too, who I would really like at 30, if he's still
33:00there just because of his readiness to contribute, they need a five who's potentially ready to
33:05step in and play some minutes for them.
33:08Those guys, I think, seem more likely than not to me to be gone at that point.
33:11So I think we are talking about the mogbo's, maybe Dadier if they want to try to even stash
33:16a guy, if he's willing to do that.
33:19And then, you know, some of these wings into the second round, they're Jalen Bridges too.
33:23Someone who could probably fit with them.
33:25So a lot of names tossed around here.
33:28Two nights.
33:29Are you a fan to the switch?
33:31Sure.
33:32I don't, I don't know.
33:33I don't have a strong preference.
33:34It makes a little, I mean, it gives us more time to give us a breath.
33:39Yeah.
33:40So, well, he is Matt Powers, uh, check out his work over at the Swish Theory.
33:48I'm sure you guys have a lot of content coming out, clean up to and throughout this draft
33:52here.
33:53Yeah.
33:54Yeah.
33:55We got, I put my big board out last weekend.
33:57We have our like consensus one, um, dropping in a couple of hours, um, with like full write-ups
34:02and everything.
34:03A bunch of, we have like a huge defensive Zack Edie article.
34:06We had Ron Holland article, all kinds of stuff.
34:09So just check out the SwishTheory.com.
34:12So Edie's your favorite guy in this draft, huh?
34:16Yeah.
34:17Yeah.
34:18I think he like, you shouldn't ignore his like historic dominance for NCAA prospects.
34:23I think he's going to be really hard to cover, cover.
34:25And like, if you can't throw a single coverage on them, like there's no other prospect like
34:31that in this class, you know, um, just like the upsides to immense for me, I think he's
34:37seven, four and seven, 10 wingspan and has good touch.
34:40Yeah.
34:41That's a crazy draft story.
34:43Him going from a guy who was slotted at like 50 last year to be potentially a top 10 pick
34:48here in this class and thriving in the NBA.
34:52So I'm looking forward to see where he lands.
34:54Again, another guy with a wide, wide range there at the top of this draft.
34:57So that's the fun tonight that might not be the women Yama's and Zion Williamson's of
35:02the world, but you do have a lot of potential surprises, uh, up and down the draft board
35:08here as high as number one.
35:09So we'll see starting at eight o'clock tonight.
35:12Thanks again, Matt.
35:13Great meeting you.
35:14Great talking.
35:15You're here, uh, this morning and now it's time.
35:17Let's just see who's going to be there for Boston at 30, who's going to go number one
35:21and everything in between the draft starts tonight at eight o'clock.
35:24We will have a live show leading up to the start of the draft, and then we'll go live
35:28just before the Celtics start, uh, going on the clock at 30, then we'll go right through
35:33the pick or trade or whatever they end up doing there at the end of the draft actually
35:36works out pretty well for us in terms of streaming tonight, uh, sorry, the draft end of the draft.
35:41So, uh, we'll be here.
35:43I think Jimmy just sway here tonight as well for everybody watching, uh, and you can join
35:48us live tonight, uh, for our draft show.
35:51Thanks again, Matt.
35:52Good luck with all the coverage tonight and, uh, we'll talk to everybody later tonight.
