00:00Taiwan's embassy in Palau has lodged a complaint with the government there after a woman said
00:05she was unnecessarily searched at the international airport.
00:09A Taiwanese tourist to the island says she was pulled aside, told to strip naked, and
00:13closely inspected by airport security.
00:16She left the airport in tears.
00:18Officials in Palau say the search was conducted according to their laws.
00:22Taiwan's foreign ministry responded, saying they respect Palau's right to protect its
00:27national security, but that inspection should have a proper explanation.
00:32The airport has increased searches of visitors after incidents of drug smuggling.
00:36The embassy later told us that last month, two people from Palau and two people from
00:43Mainland China stuffed drugs in private areas.
00:46There were no Taiwanese drug smugglers there.
00:49So why do they need to strengthen testing for Taiwanese?
