Boeing Admits Missing Paperwork Led to Critical Bot Incident on Alaska Airlines 737 Max

Boeing disclosed that missing paperwork may have caused a door plug to blow off an Alaska Airlines 737 Max in January, leaving the plane without critical bolts. Two groups of employees were tasked with removing and reinstalling the door plug, but the first group failed to file paperwork noting its removal, so the second group was unaware bolts were needed. The plane flew for two months without the bolts before the plug blew out on an Alaska Airlines flight. Boeing said production speed contributed to the error and it is slowing assembly lines to ensure quality. The NTSB reprimanded Boeing for revealing details it said violated the investigation process.
