"My Song Of The Nile"

"John Vincent" is really Harold "Scrappy" Lambert

This song was published in 1924 and is associated with First National Vitaphone movie "Drag."

Harold "Scrappy" Lambert was born on May 12, 1901,

He enjoyed his first success in show business as a member of the two Smith Brothers, who were not brothers. They were Harold "Scrappy" Lambert and Billy Hillpot.

There were the two Smith brothers who made records as opposed to the two famous Smith Brothers who marketed cough drops (I refer to William and Roosevelt Smith).

Lambert and Hillpot met at Rutgers University.

Billy Hillpot was born on July 31,1904. He died on February 25, 1985.

They were billed as "Trade & Mark" on radio station WEAF, which turned into NBC.

Like many early radio performers, they took their name from the show's sponsor--in this case, Smith cough drop company.

Lambert went on to make countless recordings, often providing vocal refrains to dance band numbers.

Lambert died in Riverside, California, on November 30, 1987.
