00:00GOD'S SECRET WEAPON
00:02Aslan, the great lion of Narnia, was right.
00:06We are never told what would have happened.
00:09There is no point in saying, suppose Moses had got it right.
00:13Stop speculating, just look at what is before our eyes, the marvelous working of God.
00:20Out of a genocidal royal house emerges a tender-hearted daughter who takes the Hebrew child under
00:24her wing.
00:26The place of death becomes the place of life indeed the Nile, designed to drown Israel,
00:31in fact drowns Egypt.
00:34The Hebrew mother, instead of being bereaved, is paid to bring up her child.
00:39Egypt's destroyer is nourished in Egypt's royal family.
00:43Pharaoh's daughter does not know that her walk by the river is divinely managed as to
00:47time and place.
00:49Nor does Miriam know that her careful choice of a place where the baby's ark will be held
00:54by rushes and not carried away by the current is handpicked by God.
00:59Pharaoh's daughter's unthinking walk and the family's plan of care are alike in his hand.
01:04But it is a tense moment when Pharaoh's daughter opens the ark.
01:08The Hebrew says, when she saw him the child.
01:11She takes note of his masculinity.
01:13He is a child sentenced to death.
01:16Surely her lineage would cause her to promptly chuck the baby in the river?
01:21But no.
01:22Divine sovereignty destined this child not for the river but for the palace.
01:27How very marvelous is the providential working of God.
01:31Humanly speaking we would say Moses promptly got it all wrong and set God's program back
01:36by forty years.
01:37But God's sovereign providence is more wonderful than that.
01:41What we think of as his forward planning has taken account of our errors.
01:46See how God had a home waiting for Moses and Midian a wife, family, and a flock so that
01:51he could learn to be the shepherd God's people would need.
01:55Reflection Divine sovereignty is at work in a world
01:58seemingly governed by chance.
02:01Here we see the wonderful blending of divine sovereignty and human responsibility.
