00:00We're gonna get a more reaction now from President Macron's camp
00:04That's with our Peter O'Brien who's at the Elysee Presidential Palace in Paris
00:08Peter Macron has been holding a meeting today a bit of a crisis meeting. What's he been saying to his minister so far?
00:18We saw a string of
00:20Ministerial cars file into the Elysee Palace just behind me about midday. We've not seen them come back out again
00:26we know that Gabrielle Attal the Prime Minister is among those talking to the president right now and
00:32What they're trying to do is nail down the message the message that they should have already had nailed down the moment
00:40We got those results at 8 p.m. Last night instead a couple of hours later Prime Minister Gabrielle Attal
00:46Did come out and say no votes for the Rassemblement National the far right
00:51Let's make sure that whenever we have a candidate in third place in one of those
00:57300 three-way run-offs next Sunday
00:59We we make sure that candidate does not run to give as much chance as possible as the candidates
01:06Facing off against the RN to actually win that seat and deny the RN an absolute majority in Parliament
01:13But since then we've seen a variety of confused messages from other party loyalty from the outgoing
01:21the outgoing Assemblée Nationale
01:23Presidency Albon Pivet from Bruno the Mayor the Finance Minister and from other
01:29parties allied with Macron's party
01:32Edouard Philippe the head of the horizons party they've all had different ideas, and they've said actually some of them
01:38No, we don't want any votes for the far left LFE party as well
01:43Which is dominating this left-wing bloc so we're not seeing one clear message for what voters should do and even for what candidates
01:51Should do who've all got their own ideas and in any case what we'll see next Sunday is
01:57voters perhaps not voting tactically anyway the ones who
02:01would have wanted
02:02Macron's camp to win a lot of them will not be able to hold their nose and say I'm going to vote for the
02:08Far left and on the same side left-wing voters are very sick of Macron as well
02:13So even if they do manage to get a strong message out. We're not sure how it might affect the vote
02:18All right Peter, thanks so much for that Peter O'Brien there at the Elysee presidential palace
