Inquest into police shooting of WA Indigenous woman continues

A coronial inquest into the death of an Indigenous woman fatally shot by a police officer on a street in the West Australian regional city of Geraldton -- is underway. The Yamma-Gee woman, who for cultural reasons is referred to as JC, was carrying a large knife and a pair of scissors when she was shot by police constable Brent Wyndham in 2019. He was charged with her murder but acquitted by a supreme court jury in 2021. And a warning to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander viewers – this story contains the image of a person who has died.
