00:00My name is Steve Pazmani, I'm the CEO and owner of Fully Torqued Industries.
00:15We specialize in building hot rods, particularly muscle cars.
00:18I'm young, I grew up driving muscle cars, I love it, I like to work on them, and so
00:22for me it's to teach this younger generation how amazing these cars are so we can keep
00:27the culture alive.
00:28Today I have John McGann coming by from Hot Rod Magazine.
00:31I met him not too long ago and we had done a whole interview and everything and it was
00:36awesome, it was a podcast, and now he's come by today, we're working on a new project.
00:40You know, I had a car dropped off here not too long ago, I wasn't in town, it was a 1967
00:46Fastback.
00:47I don't know a ton about the car, I just know that it was built a few years ago and now
00:52we're going to be taking this in from essentially a Restomod Canyon Carver and we're going
00:57to make it a drag car.
01:02It's good to see you again.
01:03Nice to see you man, how you been?
01:04Awesome.
01:05I'm excited about our project.
01:06Dude, I know, I'm really stoked.
01:08I really haven't even put my eyes on it yet.
01:09Well, I'm excited to see it.
01:11Let's do it, let's pull it off.
01:13It's not even my car.
01:14I feel like it's a new car.
01:18This thing looks really nice.
01:20It is.
01:21Wow.
01:23I love the wheels, I love the way it sits.
01:28It's kind of got like that Eleanor look with the rims on it, which I totally dig.
01:33The coupe to hardtop conversion was done at a shop in Texas and then the car was shipped
01:38to us and we did the drivetrain and the rest of it.
01:40Do you remember what engine they had put in this, a 289 or a 351?
01:44Well, it's a Coyote, I know that.
01:46They put a Coyote in it.
01:47Oh, so it was updated.
01:48Yes.
01:49So it's a Coyote 5 liter, but I don't know much past that.
01:53So I think we should pop the hood.
01:55Nice.
01:56Oh, I love it.
01:59Right.
02:00A little dusty, but it looks good.
02:02Hey man, a little dust didn't hurt nobody, as long as I can do some burnouts, I'm happy.
02:06This thing is rad.
02:08So I was expecting maybe a 289 or a 302, maybe it's got a 351.
02:13I don't know.
02:14And then all of a sudden we pop the hood and it's got a crate motor Coyote.
02:18I mean, technically it's a 302, it's a 5 liter, but I mean, it's much bigger because it's
02:22a gen three.
02:23I mean, this is pretty insane.
02:26We have a little bit of help from Amazon, which is cool because a lot of people don't
02:29realize like you can literally build a car off their website.
02:32They have every part you can think of.
02:34We want to have this Mustang at our company's events.
02:37The first one is Roadkill Nights in Michigan.
02:39From Roadkill Nights, we're going to have it at Hot Rod Power Tour West.
02:43And then the last place we want to have the car is at the SEMA show.
02:45Yeah, I think what we got to do is, I haven't even heard it.
02:49Let's try and get it fired up maybe.
02:51Sounds good.
02:52All right.
02:53Fingers crossed.
02:54Well, I don't hear, I don't hear any fuel pump.
02:57Nope.
02:58I got nothing.
02:59I think battery's smoked.
03:01I kind of figured.
03:02Yeah.
03:03Even if the battery's not hooked up, I know in these cars it sits for too long and everything's
03:08electronic.
03:09More than likely, and it has a sound system.
03:11Yeah.
03:12If there's an amp, draw.
03:13Right.
03:14If the electronics not properly hooked up, draw.
03:16Yeah.
03:17I did order one of those no-co starters from Amazon.
03:21I had a weird feeling in my stomach.
03:22I'm like, if it doesn't start, let's at least try and jump it.
03:27I think that would be what it is.
03:29How convenient.
03:30Right away.
03:31I love it.
03:32It works for me.
03:33All right, let me go grab this really quick.
03:34Okay.
03:35Look what showed up.
03:36Nice.
03:37All right.
03:38I'm liking it.
03:40All right.
03:45I've seen these things before, so.
03:48Now we're talking.
03:49Excellent.
03:50Look at that.
03:51Let's throw some power at this thing and see if we can get it to start up.
03:55I'm excited.
03:56All right.
03:57You let me know when you're ready so I don't electrocute you.
04:00Ready?
04:01Yeah.
04:02See if it works.
04:05I got some power.
04:06All right.
04:08Pump.
04:12All right.
04:17It wants to start.
04:18It does.
04:19Right.
04:20Let's try it again.
04:28Okay.
04:31That's good.
04:32It's a start.
04:33Well, it got started.
04:34Yeah.
04:35Well, now that we finally got it going, throwing up on the lift and we can actually see underneath
04:47it.
04:48Yeah.
04:49Yeah.
04:50All right.
04:51There's a lot of cool parts under here.
04:57Yeah.
04:58Now, Steve, I got to apologize because I didn't do my research ahead of time.
05:01I'm going to figure out what suspension this is because I don't recognize it, but it's
05:04cool because it's got this torque arm and then this frame stiffening thing, which is
05:08pretty sweet.
05:09On a lot of these cars, when you throw that much power at it, you're going to get in the
05:12rear.
05:13It's going to want to go a different way than the front.
05:14And these are very flexible.
05:15These early Mustangs are very flexible chassis.
05:18This almost seems like it's meant to go in a straight line.
05:21Yes.
05:22Yeah.
05:23They knew that its identity would change one day to a drag car.
05:28And yes, and then we can, but it is the adjustability still there that we can do some handling
05:32stuff with it, too.
05:33Yeah.
05:34If you wanted to.
05:35Yeah.
05:36The other surprise underneath the car was the vice grips that were clamping off the
05:37rear brake line flex hose.
05:39Whoa.
05:40I got the vice grips, which when I first saw them, I'm like, someone left them under here
05:45for like, oh, we need to make a bracket right here.
05:47And then I was wondering if it was a leak.
05:49So there maybe is a leak, but it's pinching off this flexible line.
05:52The other thing I was thinking, Steve, was at the end of all the week to wickets, they'd
05:56do a burnout.
05:57So I think maybe he clamped off this, the fluid pressure to the rear brake so he could
06:01have a monster burnout in the parking lot at work.
06:04That would make sense.
06:05That's awesome.
06:06So this is for a burnout.
06:07So yeah, probably.
06:08You know, once we put this car on the lift, it is sick.
06:12There's all the fun goodies in here.
06:13You got a full on chassis stabilizer, you have aluminum drive shaft, disc brakes all
06:18the way around.
06:19I mean, it's, it's set up to run.
06:22You know, I'm thinking is I got to figure something out with this exhaust.
06:24I don't want to go smaller piping.
06:27I'm thinking maybe if we had a smaller muffler, maybe that we could do like here and do a
06:34side exhaust.
06:35That might be the better way to do it.
06:37So we're not running it fully out the back and we want the exhaust to evacuate as quick
06:41as possible.
06:42Yeah.
06:43Well, I think we've pretty much seen everything there is to see under here.
06:47You know what I'm thinking?
06:48I think I know what you're thinking.
06:49We need to see if that line lock works and do some burnouts.
06:53I'm down.
07:05I think we got it.
07:06Does it sound like it?
07:08Now that we have the Mustang here at the shop, we've driven it, we've put our eyes on it.
07:12I got to start ordering parts.
07:14I'm going to go through Amazon.
07:15I'm going to see what we need.
07:16I'm going to make a little bit of a wishlist.
07:19Hopefully the Amazon gods can help me out.
07:21And phase two, once we've ordered those parts, is going to be the deconstruction with the
07:26new construction of what is going to be our streetable drag car.
