00:00If playing Stray has got you in the mood for some more feline adventures, we have the perfect
00:09thing for you.
00:10Yes, we went there.
00:12Anyway, coming up is a complete list of the best cat games to live out your kitty dreams
00:16in every way imaginable.
00:17Take a look and see if any of them yank your whiskers and let us know your favourites.
00:20What are you going to play next?
00:22Or any other cat games we've missed that we should have included?
00:24Let us know in the comments below.
00:26Okay, it's a decade old 3DS game, and cats will never forgive Nintendo for giving them
00:35second billing, but Nintendogs plus Cats is still one of the best cat games ever made.
00:40Its adorable recreation of kitty breeds gives you your choice of fuzzy pals to befriend,
00:45and if you play with 3D enabled, it really does feel like you're staring through a little
00:49window into their home.
00:51Unfortunately, you can't teach the kittens tricks or take them out into town like you
00:55can with their puppy counterparts, but they will sneak off and bring you gifts every now
00:59and again to show you they care.
01:00None of the gifts are dead birds or mice, but it's okay to sacrifice realism every now
01:04and again.
01:12The true essence of being a cat is really about being a bit of a dick, and cat lateral
01:17damage channels that perfectly as you leap around procedurally generated environments
01:21in search of breakable stuff to knock over.
01:24Occasionally a special event will pop up where maybe you can chase and catch a mouse, but
01:28ultimately it's all about that sweet destructive satisfaction.
01:32Cat lateral damage is good fun to play as a standard flat screen experience, but it's
01:36even better when you can play it in VR with full motion control pause for an even more
01:41immersive arsehole cat experience.
01:49A game about a girl who can control gravity might not seem like an obvious cat game, but
01:54the girl in question is called Cat with a K and she gets all of her pals from a mysterious
01:58space cat who looks like stars, which is definitely a level up on the cat coolness ladder.
02:04Space cat is called Dusty and is your constant companion in the game.
02:07You never control them directly, but they're always there, wandering around doing magic
02:12cat stuff whenever you stand idle for more than a few seconds.
02:19So what if Samus Aran was a cat, but still did pretty much all of the same stuff?
02:24Then you'd basically be playing Gata Roboto, a retro side-scroller that pairs its Metroid
02:29inspired action with stylish lo-fi pixel art and music.
02:32A spaceship's cat called Kiki must continue her human's mission by curling up in a suit
02:37of armour and blasting through caverns full of hostile creatures, but she'll also need
02:42to pop out occasionally to take advantage of her feline agility and smaller size when
02:47that giant robo-armour gets in the way.
02:49Gata Roboto is a brief and minimalist Metroid style experience that's perfect when you need
02:54a little bit more cat action in your life.
03:02Night in the Woods is a game about coming home, finding it's changed, not being sure
03:05how you feel about that, but most importantly, you play as a cat.
03:10May, the cat in question, is a deeply conflicted character who lives in a crumbling rust belt
03:15town and occasionally indulges in breaking stuff for the sake of breaking stuff as she
03:19tries to get on with her life.
03:21Which is very cat.
03:22Okay, so everybody's some kind of anthropomorphic animal in this world and nobody ever makes
03:26a big deal about it.
03:28But the last thing Night in the Woods wants to do is lay out a deep lore backstory to
03:32explain the animal people thing.
03:34The important thing is May is one of the best video game cats around.
03:44What good is recreating a digital version of yourself and giving them the perfect home
03:48if your cat isn't there to throw up on the floor and ruin the sofa?
03:52The base version of The Sims 4 doesn't include pets, but as the name suggests, the Sims 4
03:57Cats and Dogs expansion is all over it.
03:59You start off by creating your third friend with a character creation suite with options
04:04and flexibilities to rival its Sims counterpart.
04:06Then you can add them to your family and feel your heart swell.
04:10You can't control your pets directly, which is especially realistic for cats, but there
04:14are a bunch of ways for your Sims to care for them and interact with them.
04:18You can even open up your own veterinary clinic as a business if a house full of animal pals
04:22isn't enough.
04:26The true endgame of Animal Crossing's New Horizons is, obviously, assembling an island
04:31of nothing but cat villagers.
04:33Sure, there are plenty of other species of villagers to meet, and they're all perfectly
04:37good, but cats?
04:40Plus is it any coincidence that Raymond, the most sought after villager in the entire New
04:44Horizons community, is himself a cat?
04:46I think not.
04:47Engineering the perfect setting for a bunch of ingrates who lounge around on all the furniture
04:51like they own the place is also an incredibly realistic cat owner experience.
05:04Super Mario 3D World introduced Cat Mario, giving the most heroic plumber the ability
05:09to scratch, climb walls, and dive through the air with the grace of a cat, chasing after
05:14another cat.
05:15This was all included in Bowser's Fury, a new adventure added to the Switch release
05:19of 3D World.
05:21It all unfolds in a strange corner of Super Mario's world, where everything except Bowser
05:25is some kind of cat.
05:27The goombas, the shines, the trees, the architecture, everything.
05:30Never before has the Mario franchise been this deeply invested in all things feline,
05:35and perhaps it never will be again.
05:49And finally, the game that brought us all together to start with.
05:52How could we not put this as our number one cat game?
05:55Not only does Stray let you push things off ledges, walk through paint, and leave little
05:59paw print trails, and scratch trees until your claws are content, but there's a beautiful
06:03story underneath its furry coat.
06:05This game will make you laugh, cry, and purr, literally if you're playing on the PS5 DualSense,
06:10as the controller will purr along with you.
06:13Placing Stray as our number one cat game just makes sense, and we hope you get a chance
06:17to step into the furry feet of its protagonist soon.
06:20It's worth it.
06:21Trust us.
06:22So, what's your favourite cat game on this list, or is there another one that you prefer
06:25that we didn't mention?
