Top 10 Concerts Ruined by Morons

Here are some additional examples of poorly planned or terribly executed concerts:

1. **Altamont Free Concert (1969)** - This concert is notorious for its disastrous outcome due to poor planning and decision-making. The Rolling Stones hired the Hells Angels for security, which resulted in violence and the tragic death of a concert-goer.

2. **Woodstock '99** - This festival was plagued by high temperatures, lack of adequate facilities, overpriced necessities, and a general lack of control, leading to riots, fires, and numerous assaults.

3. **Kanye West's Sacramento Concert (2016)** - Kanye West abruptly ended his concert after just three songs, following a lengthy rant about the music industry and other artists, leaving fans frustrated and angry.

4. **Guns N' Roses & Metallica (Montreal, 1992)** - A combination of James Hetfield's injury from a pyrotechnics accident and Axl Rose cutting the Guns N' Roses set short led to a riot, causing significant damage to the venue.

5. **Michael Jackson's Dangerous Tour in Bucharest (1992)** - Poor crowd control and over-excitement led to numerous injuries and fainting spells among the audience, with many needing medical attention.

6. **Amy Winehouse in Belgrade (2011)** - In what was supposed to be a comeback tour, Amy Winehouse appeared intoxicated, struggled to perform, and was booed off stage, leading to the cancellation of the rest of the tour.

These examples highlight how crucial proper planning and decision-making are in ensuring a successful concert.

00:00Welcome to WatchMojo, and today we're counting down our picks for the top ten concerts ruined
00:09by morons.
00:20For this list, we'll be looking at the worst thought out decisions and planning that messed
00:25up concerts, whether from the manager, audience members, or performers themselves.
00:31Catch any poorly planned or terribly executed concerts we missed?
00:35Please write about them in the comments!
00:58Number 10.
00:59Smash Mouth vs. B.R.E.A.D.
01:01You may be wondering, why was B.R.E.A.D. involved in a concert?
01:13Well the concert was being held at a food festival in Colorado, and unfortunately a
01:18vendor had decided to give out free loaves of bread.
01:21That's right, loaves.
01:23Drunk audience members started throwing slices of bread everywhere, and some landed on the
01:28stage.
01:29Smash Mouth's lead singer, Steve Harwell, went berserk right as the band was playing
01:34the introduction to All Star.
01:43While the band kept repeating itself, hoping for the song to start, Harwell shouted curses
01:48and threats at the bread throwers.
01:51Finally fed up, he headed down into the crowd, presumably to administer a beating to several
01:56audience members.
01:57Thankfully, however, he was stopped by event security.
02:11Number 9.
02:12Britney Spears Objects to Smoke
02:20At a concert in Vancouver, about 15 minutes into her set, Britney Spears suddenly walked
02:25off stage.
02:26The audience was left waiting in the dark, confused.
02:30Someone made an announcement that the show would begin again when the stage was cleared
02:34of smoke, and everyone was reminded that it is a non-smoking building.
02:44About half an hour passed, during which hockey intermission music played over the speakers
02:47presumably intended to be soothing, but apparently somewhat annoying.
02:52Spears returned and began to sing, but then, toward the end of a song, she abruptly left
02:57the stage again.
02:59When she came back for the last time, her parting advice to the frustrated audience
03:03was, don't smoke weed.
03:09Number 8.
03:11Nickelback vs. Rocks
03:13In 2002, while playing a set in Portugal, the band Nickelback was pelted with rocks
03:18and bottles from the crowd.
03:23No one really knows why, but given their behavior, it seems like most of the audience came to
03:28see a concert by a band they hated.
03:31After weathering two songs under this barrage of hard objects, lead singer Chad Kruger asked
03:36the crowd a pointed question.
03:41When he was answered with a bottle to the back of the head, Kruger and the rest of the
03:45band simply left the stage, though not without directing a couple of middle fingers towards
03:50the audience.
03:56Number 7.
03:57Justin Bieber Objects to Screams
04:00Normally, screams from the audience at a concert are a good thing, but maybe not so much when
04:05you're trying to deliver an impassioned speech about everyone's purpose in life.
04:15A little trite, perhaps, but hardly worth screaming at.
04:19However, Justin Bieber had to plead with the audience members to stop yelling and making
04:23noise during his talk at a concert in Manchester, England.
04:27When the screaming still didn't stop, Bieber angrily stormed off stage.
04:37Apparently this is not a new issue, as Bieber has told British fans in the past to shut
04:43up and be quiet and listen.
04:45Bieber did eventually return to perform, but claimed the Manchester audience couldn't
04:50handle him.
04:56Number 6.
04:57Limp Bizkit at Woodstock 99
05:00Let's start off by saying there were a lot of poor choices made by people involved in
05:05Woodstock 1999.
05:10No one band is to blame for the assaults, damage, and chaos that occurred.
05:15However, Fred Durst of Limp Bizkit definitely made one of the worst decisions of the event
05:20when he told an already revved up crowd to start breaking things.
05:25Many people took him at his word, tearing apart sound towers and crowd surfing on the
05:29metal pieces.
05:36Medical tents were swamped with people who got injured in the mosh pit.
05:39By the time the band actually started playing break stuff, the crowd was way ahead of them.
05:50The festival later ended with riots and a huge fire.
05:53Number 5.
05:55Nirvana objects to crowd behavior
05:57For a 1992 concert in Buenos Aires, Nirvana hired an all-female band called Calamity Jane
06:03to be their opening act.
06:05The audience treated them horribly, shouting obscenities and throwing mud and rocks, until
06:10they left the stage in despair.
06:23At first, lead singer Kurt Cobain wanted to cancel the show, but instead, Nirvana decided
06:28to give the audience a taste of their own medicine.
06:37They played unfamiliar, experimental songs that hadn't been released yet.
06:41And to top it off, before every number, Kurt Cobain would play the introduction of Smells
06:46Like Teen Spirit, but then segue into a different song.
07:05Whether the crowd knew it or not, their rudeness led to one of the most unusual concerts Nirvana
07:10has ever given.
07:12Number 4.
07:13Guns N' Roses in Metallica in Montreal
07:16This disastrous concert began with Metallica's James Hetfield getting horribly burned by
07:21his own pyrotechnics and having to be rushed to the hospital.
07:34Then the audience had to wait over two hours for the famously unpunctual Guns N' Roses
07:39to show up.
07:40Unfortunately, frontman Axl Rose had been having vocal problems throughout the tour.
07:45But whether it was due to this or problems with feedback in the building, Guns N' Roses
07:50also left the stage after only a few songs.
08:03The audience went mad with rage, rioting and looting until they were finally subdued by
08:09police.
08:23Several people were injured and Guns N' Roses ended up being banned from Montreal's Olympic
08:27Stadium for life.
08:29Number 3.
08:302021 Astroworld Festival One of the worst things about this recent
08:35tragic event is that in hindsight it seems easily preventable.
08:39At 9 o'clock in the morning, a security breach let thousands of unregistered fans
08:44into the stadium.
08:55By the afternoon, there were hundreds of reported injuries and the Houston police described
09:00dangerous crowd conditions.
09:02Then when Travis Scott came on stage at 9 p.m., audience members made a mad rush toward
09:07the front, trampling everyone in their path.
09:18Because of all the lights and noise, Scott himself claims he was unaware of what was
09:22going on.
09:23By the time it was over, eight people were dead.
09:26Exactly who was responsible for this tragedy is hard to say, but clearly the event should
09:31have been stopped before that point.
09:45Number 2.
09:46Great White Concert Fire This is another tragic event where one can't
09:50help feeling amazed at the poor planning involved.
09:53In 2003, the band Great White was playing at the Station Nightclub in Rhode Island.
09:58The club was a small, single-story wooden building.
10:01It had no sprinkler system and didn't have a license for pyrotechnics or firework displays.
10:06Just seconds into their first number, the road manager set off a pyrotechnic fire near
10:10the stage, which ignited soundproofing foam in the walls and ceiling.
10:16In a matter of minutes, it grew into a deadly blaze that claimed the lives of a hundred
10:31people and injured far more.
10:34Letting off fireworks in a small indoor space may seem unwise enough.
10:38However, it was revealed later that the club was also crowded beyond capacity and had no
10:43sprinkler system.

11:07Number 1.
11:08Fire Festival As a fitting end to our list, this was a
11:12highly promoted concert series that just… didn't happen.
11:16Fire Festival was billed as a glamorous vacation on a remote island in the Bahamas, with lots
11:21of music, food, and fun.
11:31This was not exactly what the guests found when they arrived.
11:34First, their luggage was dumped out of a shipping crate in the dark.
11:38Next, they got a meal consisting of bread, cheese, and a small salad.
11:43There was a tent city for sleeping accommodations.
11:54No concerts ever occurred.
11:56The organizer, Billy McFarland, had scammed everyone who bought tickets.
12:00Not to mention hundreds of island workers who had devoted their time and money into
12:04preparing for the event.
12:06Some locals in Exuma who provided the festival with services are still owed more than $100,000
12:11by the festival's organizers.
12:12More like a dumpster fire than a festival.
12:16Do you agree with our picks?
