00:00I'd like to thank the High Sheriff, his returning officer, Emma Palmer, the acting returning officer and everyone involved in the camp and the police.
00:10They've all done a fantastic job tonight.
00:20I would also like to thank my wonderful agent and campaign manager, Councillor Anthony Webley
00:25and all of the amazing volunteers who expended so much energy and sweat to make this happen
00:33and have the blisters on their feet and the sunburn on their faces to prove it.
00:39Kate Duerden and Jackie Owen as the Labour secretaries of Montgomeryshire and Fluid South
00:45who, while most of us were trying to get our heads around the boundaries of the new constituency,
00:50were doing an exemplary job of integrating the two parts together so that we could campaign efficiently as an effective force.
01:05I would also like to thank my family for their tireless encouragement and support throughout
01:10and I would like to both thank and pay tribute to my fellow candidates, Jeremy, Glyn, Craig, Elwyn and Oliver.
01:19Whilst we've had some robust exchanges across the six sustains and radically disagree on many policies,
01:25we've always been respectful with each other and the debate has been dignified.
01:30I wish them all the very best of luck for the future and look forward to working with the Powys County Councillors moving forward.
01:38Finally, and unsurprisingly, I would like to thank the voters of Montgomeryshire and Glyndwr who have participated in the democratic process.
01:47I believe that the term historical result is overused, but this really is a historical result.
01:55Montgomeryshire was the only seat in Wales that had never had a Labour MP, so history has been made here tonight.
02:03Many people voting Labour here will have done so for the first time and I thank you for placing your trust in me. Diolch yn fawr.
