00:00There's divorce on this show, there's pregnancies on this show, there's like, there's fights on this, hiring, I mean I fire people, I've never fired anyone, no one gets fired on Million Dollar List in New York.
00:09It was probably the most stressed out I've ever been in my life.
00:11It was like our period of making this show.
00:14Okay Wes, it's been a while. It's been a hot minute since you've been on our televisions and now you're back.
00:20Yeah.
00:21How are we feeling about it?
00:23Terrified, excited, nervous, anxious, happy.
00:27All the emotions.
00:28I'm like a Pixar movie of just emotions, you know?
00:31Emotions.
00:32They're all firing inside. It's a lot.
00:34It's a lot, but I know a lot of fans are so excited for it.
00:38After selling real estate for 12 years, I decided to start my own company.
00:44And if you can't sell, you can't be here.
00:49Welcome to New York City. We have a good, bad, ugly, crazy.
00:52Ready, set, start.
00:55I think fans of Million Dollar List in New York or any of the Million Dollar Listing shows
01:02are going to get everything they've ever wanted from watching this show and more because it is so different.
01:08I think fans of Selling Sunset and Buying Beverly Hills, now Buying London and any of the other real estate shows,
01:13I think it'll check off all of their boxes.
01:16But I think there's a new genre that owning Manhattan kind of creates.
01:22Not to give anything away, but I've never seen a reality TV show that has narrative thread voiceover.
01:31There are moments, there are things that Netflix allowed us to do in the show that I just couldn't have done
01:37on Bravo and in the past shows.
01:41I think you have to consistently be creating something new and pivoting.
01:46Especially now, right? You've got to create attention.
01:48How do I get somebody to pay attention to the screen and not their phone?
01:51So you've got to do things differently.
01:53So I think people will be surprised. Hopefully it works.
01:56But is it safe to say that we're still going to expect some drama maybe?
02:01And of course, you said oh God, so yes.
02:06It was probably the most stressed out I've ever been in my life.
02:08It was like our period of making the show.
02:12Are agents happy here?
02:13Everyone in this industry is stressed.
02:15Why do you feel like I need to prove to you something?
02:17You do.
02:18You don't have to like me. You will respect me.
02:20I know there's nothing wrong with this product. If it's not us, it must be you.
02:24They're sharks and when they smell blood, they're going to come.
02:27Stop your sh**!
02:28Like am I in real estate or am I in a freaking sorority is how I feel sometimes.
02:33You have to remember too, when we started thinking about coming back to TV and doing something new in New York,
02:42the market was on fire. Everything was amazing.
02:44Interest rates were two, two and a half percent.
02:47People were coming out. Everyone wanted to be outside.
02:50Yoga classes were in the streets.
02:52Then we started filming. Interest rates go to eight percent.
02:55You have global conflicts. Things get very, very stressful.
02:59And then camera in your face.
03:01And you're like, okay, great.
03:07And the show captures all of that.
03:10So I think, yes, there are definitely deals.
03:13It's a deal show.
03:15So there are deals on the show.
03:16So if you like watching real estate sales and deals and the negotiations and all of that drama, that's there.
03:22If you enjoy all the personal drama, there's divorce on this show.
03:27There's pregnancies on this show.
03:28There's fights on this show.
03:30I fire people. I've never fired anyone.
03:33No one gets fired on Million Dollar List in New York or any of these shows.
03:36And we shot in real time.
03:39So there are moments that were real world-esque.
03:44You know, just this is happening right now and just deal with it.
03:48And for you, how did you handle it all?
03:50I didn't. Look how old I look up here.
03:53I'm like young man inside, old man outside now.
03:58You know what? I don't know.
04:02I stopped asking myself, what's the worst that can happen?
04:05And started just really telling myself, this is the best that can happen.
04:09And I think that was super helpful for me.
04:11Because it can be a lot to start your own company and manage everybody and everything.
04:15But at the end of the day, we're in New York City selling some of the most beautiful, incredible properties in the world.
04:20Working with amazing people.
04:22No matter how crazy they make me and everybody else.
04:27We're super fortunate to be here.
04:29To be sitting with you, to be here with everybody else.
04:33We're very lucky.
04:34Now, because this is your second time around on a real estate show,
04:38did you have any hard no's come in?
04:40And you're like, I went through this on Million Dollar Listing.
04:43No way am I going to deal with it this time around.
04:47You know, you say those things.
04:48Yes.
04:49And then you're in the middle of it and you're like, I told myself I wasn't going to do this.
04:55We follow real listings and real deals.
04:58If they sell, great.
04:59If they don't sell, everyone knows.
05:02And every season of Million Dollar Listing going into it and the same thing here.
05:06It's like, okay, hopefully everything we get sells.
05:08I'm not going to put myself in one of those.
05:10And then it always happens the same way.
05:12I mean, it's kind of the fun thing, but the scary thing about following the real estate market.
05:16Properties we have that are beautiful, that should sell in a day are tough.
05:21Properties that should not sell at all, sell in an hour.
05:24And sometimes you just don't know why.
05:26And kind of capturing that process and how we negotiate those deals.
05:30Especially when people are taking a loss.
05:33I mean, there's a transaction that we follow.
05:35I think the seller, on camera, it goes through the process of taking like a $6 million loss.
05:42And then we have other deals where they're going through and they're doubling their money.
05:45And so you have all of that and everything in between.
05:49The real estate business in New York is cutthroat.
05:52I've sold over $300 million in real estate.
05:54I want to set a record.
05:55Confidence is my middle name.
05:57I plan on being a top producing agent in New York City.
06:00These new agents are just different.
06:01I'm like a Ryan Serhan and a Kim Kardashian combined.
06:05This is my competition? Okay.
06:08Welcome to the most expensive apartment in the world.
06:12$250 million.
06:14The first one to get it sold, you're going to get $10 million.
06:18So it's time to step up and sell.
06:21So the cast is made up of a handful of different agents that work at Serhant now,
06:27at our company that's headquartered in New York City.
06:29And when I started my own company, I disbanded my whole team and said,
06:32I'm the CEO now.
06:34This is the reason why you should come work at Serhant.
06:37For you, this makes sense.
06:38This makes sense.
06:39This makes sense.
06:40And the camera captures a unique group of them.
06:44They're a diverse, special, crazy, fun-loving, hard-working, wild,
06:54dramatic, passionate group of salespeople.
06:58Do you remember having a job where you work 20 hours a day for free?
07:04And you have to live in New York City and pay those bills until something sells.
07:09Right.
07:10You have to be crazy to do that.
07:13As glamorous as we make it look, especially those first couple years,
07:18you have to be crazy.
07:19And our cast is a mix.
07:20I think of the 12 kind of main agents we see,
07:24half of them have been doing it for a long time.
07:27And it's like, what are those struggles when you're a veteran in the business?
07:30And the other half are fresh and new and trying to make a name for themselves.
07:33And how are they competing with the veterans?
07:35How are they making a name for themselves while also not messing up
07:37or making us look bad or making my brands look bad?
07:41And how do you manage those things?
07:42All of that is captured.
07:44It sounds so good.
07:46Before I let you go, describe it in just one word.
07:48Give me one word to describe this new series and what people need to watch.
07:55Exhilarating.
