00:00Rohit I think it was three months ago that you said to me on my show you said
00:07I really want to win the World Cup and I think everybody here and everyone
00:13watching at home could feel that coming from the deep corners of your heart can
00:19you find the words right now to explain what this trophy means to you
01:00winning thank you everybody thank you very much since the time we have come to
01:15India it's been wonderful the reception we have got here tells you the kind of
01:21enthusiasm the kind of waiting that people had so this trophy yes of course
01:27it means so much to us but it is for the entire nation
01:36along with you know all the players who are who have represented the country I
01:42think the people who've been wanting for us to win this trophy it is this trophy
01:50belongs to them but look it's been only three or four days now since the final
01:58happened we just arrived this morning it was honestly it was a wonderful
02:05experience and a great honor to meet Mr. Narendra Modi in the morning with the
02:11team we all know how passionate he is about the sport so again bringing this
02:19World Cup to this country means a lot to us and then obviously Mumbai never
02:24disappoints when it comes to winning the trophy
02:30we've got a solid reception you know and yes on behalf of my team the entire BCCI
02:38I would like to thank the fans the entire nation the people who support the
02:42game they watch the game and along with all of us for the last 14 years
02:47you know they are the ones who've been you know wanting this trophy to come
02:51back to India 11 years sorry not 14 years but so finally it's here I'm very
02:56very happy and relieved tell me 2007 you were part of that victory parade can you
03:04feel the difference now in 2024 what 17 years mean to everyone here I mean look
03:12for me every World Cup win is a very very special moment so I would like to
03:16leave where 2007 was right there because it was very very special it was
03:22the inaugural T20 World Cup we won it and we showed the world this is how you
03:28win the T20 World Cup that was the first time ever
03:35again when we won the 2011 World Cup at this very ground
03:40Wankhede Stadium again it was very very special
03:45Champions Trophy 2013 we won in England and then again to bring this trophy back
03:51to Wankhede feels very very special
03:55tell us tell us a little bit about that moment we've seen so two moments I'm
04:01going to talk to you about one when you saw Surya take that catch because we can
04:06see you
04:12tell me what happened in your mind when you saw it from long on to long off
04:25I was standing at long on Surya was at long off and obviously Hardik was
04:32bowling that crucial over for us
04:34hats off to him to bowl that last over you know no matter how many runs you need
04:39there's always so much pressure to bowl that over but hats off to him you know
04:58so there was a lot of technical aspect of the game that we discussed in that
05:02last over because the wind was blowing across the ground very quite heavily and
05:07we had a brief chat about what we wanted to do because we all know David Miller
05:12can be a very dangerous player and he has played that role to perfection most of
05:16the time so we wanted to keep it away from him
05:23and you know Hardik bowled that ball and then when when it went up in the air
05:28obviously for a moment I thought because he hit with the wind so I thought it may
05:33go but it was written everything was written so I'm glad that you know it
05:42didn't carry to the ground so much and for Surya to take that catch was
05:49exceptional
05:50when we say practice makes man perfect that is what it is he's practiced those
06:00things in training so much and we know when the pressure is there and those
06:06catches needs to be taken you can remember all those things that you have
06:10done in your training and that is what you know Surya did to take that catch
06:14right on the boundary was a great effort
06:20last last question to you you become the first team to win the men's T20 World Cup
06:27undefeated you did not lose a single game it was a complete team effort is it
06:35safe to say that you didn't go for a minute in the garden in any match
06:51firstly I think I'm very very proud of this team I'm very lucky to have a team
06:59like this who at any given point in time want to stand up and get the job done
07:06for the team but see again there are so many people sitting over there it'll be
07:11very unfair for me to just name few individuals it is the entire player and
07:17the support staff and this work started three or four years ago you know it was
07:26the effort of what we have done in the last three or four years for us to you
07:31know put a thought to something and then everyone to buy into that thought was
07:37again a very challenging one for for us to then come together and then buy into
07:41that thought and say that this is what this is what we want to do this is how
07:45we want to play it takes a lot of you know courage but that's what the team
07:50did and I'm very very proud of it this team did indeed show a lot of courage
07:55and a lot of fight and a lot of belief and they deserve all our love and all
08:01our cheering it really has done us proud
08:04and before leaving I know that the Mumbai crowd will be very disappointed if we don't
08:10answer a single question in Hindi right so this crowd here has been sitting here
08:17since 3 o'clock has been partying since 3 o'clock outside on Marine Drive there are
08:22lakhs of people here

08:34so what would you like to say to this amazing crowd
08:39see from this we can tell that
08:41like I said that
08:43the more we players
08:45wanted to win the World Cup
08:47the more desperate we were
08:49the more desperate our people were

08:59on 29th June we did something that
09:02made crores of people smile
09:05so I'm very happy

09:10like I said this team is a very special team
09:13and I'm very lucky that I got a chance to captaign such a team
