Hilarious video shows seniors taking a tumble during 'Grandparents Race'

Dozens of senior citizens hit the track for the second-ever "Grandparents Race" held in a US city - with a few face-planting along the way.

The annual event, in its second year running, was held at the Emeralds Down racetrack in Auburn, near Tacoma, Washington, USA, on Sunday (30/06).

Divided into two groups - grandmas and grandpas - the seniors sprinted off from the starting blocks as best they could, aiming to reach the finish line.

Some grandparents quickly toppled on their way and didn't quite make it to the end, but no one's grandma or grandpa was seriously injured.

The winners received their trophies atop a pedestal with second and third place stood on either side.
