00:00Anambra State Command of the Nigerian Police Force has planned celebration of any kind of
00:03secret cult-related activities in the state on Sunday, July 7, 2024, a day suspected to
00:08be the founders' day of one of the Nigeria's most violent secret cult groups known as Black
00:12Acts or IA. The police command in Rivers State has equally cautioned the public regarding potential
00:17cult-related activities across the country on July 7, 2024. S.P. Grace Erinchoko, the
00:23spokesperson of the command, disclosed in a statement in Port Harcourt on Saturday that
00:27a large number of Black Acts secret cult members were preparing to mark their founders' day.
00:31According to her, intelligence reports indicated that the secret cult intends to initiate innocent
00:35victims into their group and potentially engage in clashes with rival cults on the same day.
00:40Anambra State Commissioner of Police few days ago during the shooting range training to enhance the
00:44shooting capability of police personnel, ordered the security operatives to be offensive against
00:48armed hoodlums. According to new statement issued by the police command's spokesperson,
00:52Tochukwu Ikenga, the police said,
00:54Following the information received over time of a group of criminally-minded individuals,
00:58especially under the guise of the cult they plan celebration tomorrow, the 7th of July 2024,
01:02an unholy event characterized by violence and bloodshed, the police command has advised such
01:06persons or groups to desist forthwith as the police are serving with the constitutional
01:09responsibilities of protecting lives and properties will not allow such disgruntled
01:12elements to reverse several gains made by the security agencies on tackling cult-related
01:16incidents and shall deal decisively with anyone found wanting in this regard.
01:19The command, however, reiterates that such events or any other related activities remains banned
01:23and shall not hesitate to invoke relevant laws, especially the newly signed anti-cultism law of
01:27the state on anyone caught in cult-related activities or any act capable of undermining
01:31security in the state. To this end, the command warns hoteliers and proprietors of bars and event
01:37recreation centers to be cautious about such gatherings and their likes in their facilities
01:40as there will be consequences if found wanting. Also, parents and guardians are advised to warn
01:45their worlds to be law-abiding and desist from any act that could cause a breach of peace in
01:49the state. The police and other security agencies remain resolute, committed, and dedicated to making
01:55the state safer and secure at all times. In another earlier press statement, Tochukwu Ekenda stated that
02:01the commissioner of police CP Unage Obono Item has charged police operatives to be on the offensive
02:05against armed groups following the commencement of training and retraining of personnel that
02:08enhancing operational efficiency, acquiring more skills in crime prevention strategies,
02:12and building courage and confidence in confronting armed groups and responding to distress calls.
02:16The CP made this remark today, the 3rd of July 2024, as he led trainees to the shooting range
02:21and assessed the schedule of the ongoing training. He reiterates the command commitment to improving
02:25public safety and enforcing law and order in the state. To this end, the CP warns those who
02:30were misled to take to crime to retrace their steps as the police and other security agencies
02:34will not allow some disgruntled elements to make life unbearable for the residents of the state.
02:39Meanwhile, a Facebook user has posted that the leadership of the Neo-Black Movement of Africa
02:43NBM, a pan-African group, has distanced itself from any July 7th, 77th celebration, falsely
02:49claimed in some quotas to be the group's founding day anniversary. The NBM in a statement released
02:54by its national public relations officer, Adjibo Sam Brown, on Monday, July 1st, 2024, said that
03:01the movement had no celebration nor anniversary known as July 7th, 77th, adding that those framing
03:06the falsehood were not members of the NBM of Africa but imposters and charlatans. According
03:11to the statement, July 7th, 77th, as acclaimed by the enemies of the NBM of Africa founding date,
03:16is false and not recognized by the pan-Africanist group. NBM of Africa is an organization that has
03:22all its activities documented, promotes peace, and condemns in its entirety illegality. And in
03:27the history of NBM of Africa, there is no place where July 7th was documented as Founder's Day,
03:32hence it is a misnomer for any group of persons to ascribe NBM of Africa to that date,
03:37and also NBM of Africa is not Black Axe. NBM of Africa has no relationship with Black Axe.
03:43NBM of Africa disassociates itself from the name Black Axe. It warned all its members across the
03:48world to be mindful of such gatherings which it said might come in the name of the NBM of Africa
03:52and report same to the security operatives. By this notice, all members of the organization
03:57are subsequently warned to be wary and distance themselves from any gathering of such and should
04:01help report any gathering of such to the nearest police station. It concluded.
