Putin's Hidden Bunkers

According to plans unearthed online, Russian President Vladimir Putin's palace hideaway by the Black Sea is rumored to have a secret network of underground tunnels.

The plans, posted by the engineering firm in charge of the project, reveal a massive underground bunker beneath Gelendzhik Palace, with tunnels located around 50 meters below the surface.

This complex, reportedly built for protection in the event of a revolution or war, includes a ventilation system, sewerage, and a fresh water supply, with 15-inch concrete walls and an elevator shaft connecting to two tunnels. The lower tunnel has a walkway to the beach and cable racks for electricity, lighting, and fiber-optic cables.

The diagrams were revealed by Alexei Navalny’s Anti-Corruption Foundation, after a Russian construction firm, Metro Style, posted them online in the early 2010s. The £1bn palace spans 190,000 square feet and includes a church, ice rink, casino, and hookah lounge.

Thaddeus Gabryszewski, a structural engineer familiar with defensive structures, described the tunnel setup as having various safety and security features, including a fire system. The engineering company labeled the project as an "underground complex for a resort" in Gelendzhik, the town closest to the Russian president’s palace, stretching across 6,500 square feet.
