00:00Upper Franconia. The junction of the Red and White Mine Rivers. For us, a landmark on our
00:22journey down the river mine. We are here in a place of culture enjoyment and some showcase
00:27for Kolmbach as a food hub. Three exciting aspects and three museums under one roof.
00:31The Bavarian Brewery Museum with its glass brewery. The Bavarian Bakery Museum and the
00:36German Spice Museum. There are first references to the Kolmbacher Monksof as a monastic outpost
00:45as early as the 13th century. On today's halls marked in downtown Kolmbach. Destroyed 1553,
00:52it was not until the 19th century that the Monksof Brau was rebuilt on former
00:56monastery property. The exhibition begins with the art of craft beer brewing around 1900. Here,
01:04the physical effort required to produce the barley juice at that time is impressively demonstrated.
01:09From beer brewing in the time of the ancient Egyptians to the Romans and Celts,
01:16the journey through time leads to the medieval beer brewing of the monks.
01:26Advertising around beer and brewery architecture are two very interesting aspects from today.
01:36With over 3,000 square meters of exhibition space, the Bavarian Brewery Museum located
01:59on the Kolmbach Monksof is one of the largest specialized museums dedicated to beer.
02:07An exciting journey into the world of the senses is promised by 1,000 square meters of exhibition
02:19space dedicated to the cultural, historical and botanical facets of spices. Bright colors,
02:24sounds, many different scents, spices galore. The Orient smells here sweet, heavy and seductive.
02:36Kashgar, Samarkand, Aleppo, the travel follows the legendary Silk Road.
02:41The spices arrive in Europe by land and sea via Venice and the Alps to Nuremberg.
03:06The Bavarian Bakery Museum is dedicated to the basic food and cultural heritage of bread.
03:18The social and economic development of the craft, cultural and religious symbolism as
03:24well as historical causes of hunger and hardship can be viewed here.
03:31Just as in fairy tales baking and brewing belong together,
03:34here visitors find information about baking as well as about beer.
03:37From sewing to bread and from ancient Egypt to the present day, the social and economic
03:47development of the craft as well as historical causes of hunger and hardship are documented here.
