The workers from local textiles factories were sleeping with their families in the low-rent run-down townhouse in Surat, Gujarat, when it gave way on Saturday.Footage shows Kashish Sharma, 23, crying for help as a local clambers under the debris. She was hauled to safety and taken to New Civil Hospital where she was in stable condition while medics treated her injuries.Chief Fire Officer Basant Pareek confirmed on Sunday that seven had died and at least a dozen others were injured. Rescue teams were still searching the rubble for at least seven others who were believed to be trapped.Surat Police Commissioner Anupam Singh Gehlot, who oversaw the rescue mission, said that the voices of those trapped could be heard from the onset of the operation.The policeman said the building was constructed between 2016 and 2017 and housed five apartments that were occupied by factory workers in the vicinity.
