00:00All right, we are back, ladies and gentlemen, and fans around the world, let's hear from
00:09the professor, Serena Deeb.
00:14Last week we saw the return of my good friend Riho and Riho, I was just as surprised to
00:19see you as everybody else was, it's good to have you back.
00:23You know, we have a history, people still, to this day, talk about the match we had at
00:27Double or Nothing 2021, and that's what you call making history.
00:33So if Riho wants to run this back, I'm fine with that, but what she needs to understand
00:37is that I'm not the same wrestler that I was in 2021.
00:41I'm not the same woman that I was in 2021.
00:43See, I've been through so much in the past three years, but I've gotten so much stronger
00:50and I've evolved into the best in-ring women's wrestler in this entire division.
00:57So Riho, you want to do this again?
00:59Let's do it.
01:00And we're going to find out if you are really, as you claim to be, on the same level as the
01:06professor of professional wrestling.
01:11Challenge from Serena Deeb to this lady right here, here's Bobby Crews.
01:19This match is 7-1-4, they have 20 minutes time limit.
01:22Introducing first, from Shinagawa, City of Japan, Riho!
01:29Riho is making her debut on Collision, or Collision debut, I should say, and the first
01:36ever women's world champion is such a delight.
01:39You see the fans here to cheer Riho.
01:44I tell you, Riho and Serena Deeb, that's my intention, for what would be, could be, a
01:51great women's matchup.
01:52Great technical matchup, no question about it, but as is this matchup.
02:00Her opponent, wrestler of Imperial Iceland, Lady Frost!
02:09Innovative, gymnastic and fluid, Lady Frost has impressed in matches against the eight
02:17heavyweight women's champion Toni Stormer, more recently against the former New Japan
02:23strong women's champion Stephanie Bakker, and in my opinion, is one win away from becoming
02:28a main event player.
02:30Certainly beating the former and inaugural women's champion might be it, but talking
02:35of Bakker, of course, she's certainly impressed at Forbidden Door against Mercedes Monet,
02:41but now, the CA CEO's crosshairs are elsewhere.
02:47Yeah, DMD, we found that out on Wednesday, right now Lady Frost, who trained both in
02:54America and in Mexico at CMLL, has, in her six years, has really improved, like you said,
03:02but she is facing one of the greats, a young lady who wrestled her first match at age nine
03:08in Tokyo, and of course, here's a cover, one, two.
03:12Is that legal?
03:13What, to wrestle at age nine?
03:15How about that?
03:17Just a brush away that time by Lady Frost.
03:21Great agility from Rio, nonetheless.
03:24You want to see agility, watch this.
03:28Gymnastics background that she uses very well, Lady Frost.
03:32Hitting the ropes, tumbling through with a neck breaker.
03:35Nicely done, one, two.
03:37Two counts as Stephon Smith, our referee.
03:40Great program we have for you tonight.
03:42Don't forget that coming up on Wednesday, in Calgary, at the Saddledome, during the
03:49Stampede, we're going to have the finals of the Owen Hart Foundation Tournament,
03:53where we'll find out who will go on out to Wembley at All-In to buy for the
03:58World Championship Men's and Women's Drop Tour.
04:02And here comes Rio.
04:05The fake kick, connected, I think, at a time with the knee to the head of Lady Frost,
04:12who's down and in trouble here.
04:14Certainly stunned.
04:16Looking in the wrong corner.
04:20Rio up top, big cross body, got the leg, one, two.
04:25But only a two count that time.
04:27Rio, the first Women's World Champion, and Lady Frost continues on picture-to-picture.
04:35Rio now measuring Lady Frost.
04:38Here she goes.
04:39Needle up, got her in the jaw that time, it looked like.
04:44And a two count.
04:46Straight away transitioning into a cross face of sorts.
04:50Doesn't look like she's got the angle for a submission, or the left arm, for that matter.
04:56But Rio suffered.
04:58One, two, three.
05:01But Rio suffered.
05:02Cover.
05:03One, two.
05:04And here's a story about that, Niger, you can maybe help me out with.
05:10Rio is not that big nor strong, but she can help to move like that because of leverage, right?
05:16Yes, certainly leverage plays a big factor when it comes to submissions, and, you know,
05:20the history of MMA certainly speaks to that.
05:23Right.
05:24Brazilian jiu-jitsu.
05:27The Gracies, notably smaller than a lot of their opponents, were able to use leverage
05:32and submissions to dominate the early days.
05:35Cover.
05:36One, two.
05:37No, two count that time.
05:38Of MMA.
05:40Certainly injuries a factor as well.
05:43And Rio, the former AEW Women's Champion, suffered a broken collarbone back in January of 2022.
05:50Still trying to find the form that took her to the title.
05:53We're talking about coming back from injuries, of course.
05:55We mentioned Britt Baker.
05:57Do you think that perhaps she's set her sights a little too high?
06:01Well, one would say yes, maybe, but knowing Britt Baker, that's the only way she's going
06:06to set her sights is high.
06:08She's not going to come back saying, oh, I'll start at the bottom.
06:10She's going to come back saying, I'm going to go to the top with a young lady who right
06:15now arguably is, notwithstanding, one of the biggest stars, if not the biggest star in
06:21AEW right now, holding two championships.
06:24And of course, the one and only CEO.
06:28Well, take a look at this, Tony.
06:31Look at that look on the face.
06:33Lady Frost, she wants more.
06:35Oh, boy, she got more.
06:38And that got her dander up.
06:39Lady Frost now.
06:41Wow.
06:44Real in trouble hitting hard.
06:53Lady Frost mounting a little bit of a comeback here.
06:55No.
06:56Inside cradle.
06:57One, two.
06:59Rolled her up with a two count.
07:01Got the knee to the midsection to Lady Frost.
07:03Lady Frost right now using the high impact blows here.
07:06She's going to snap Merritt over.
07:11And she had that accidental blow on the back of the head.
07:13And now just yanking back on that arm.
07:16Take a look at this.
07:17Look at these two competitors.
07:19It's clear as day.
07:20Lady Frost, the more powerful, stronger of the two.
07:25Trying to use that here to her advantage.
07:28You mentioned Riho's stature.
07:31Her size certainly is as tenacious and dynamic a competitor.
07:39Nearly got a cover there.
07:40That's right.
07:41This is in the AEW women's division.
07:43Rolls her shoulders up, Nigel, both ways.
07:52We are back live on Collision on TNT.
07:56Tony Schiavone and Nigel McGinnis as this women's division match,
08:00the former world champion, the first ever,
08:03Riho taking on Lady Frost,
08:06who's been so impressive here on Collision
08:09and on all of our programs.
08:11And right now, Riho trying to lay him in,
08:14but one blow by Lady Frost stopped that.
08:16Riho again catches her.
08:18Goes through the ropes.
08:20Picked up.
08:21Oh, my God.
08:22Wow.
08:23Some more creative offense from Riho.
08:27And now with a knee shot.
08:29You wonder if Lady Frost was trying to escape
08:32whatever that attempted hold was.
08:35Either way, she's elected to go to lower ground.
08:39Here goes Riho.
08:40She is known to go up top.
08:41We've seen a bit of trouble.
08:43She almost crashed and burned that time, but still connected.
08:47Lady Frost tried to avoid the crossbody from the top.
08:50Couldn't avoid it entirely.
08:53Riho crashed into the knees, lower limbs.
08:57As you can see, the left knee of Lady Frost troubling her now.
09:03Now trying to get to her feet.
09:06Finally does.
09:07Riho rolls her in.
09:10Stephon Smith checking on.
09:13See Riho grabbing her left wrist as well.
09:15They call that high risk for a reason.
09:18Sure.
09:19Give up and take up, for want of a better phrase, are at risk.
09:24Tried to double stop that time, but rolls through.
09:26Lady Frost tried a spin kick and got her the second time through.
09:32And now up on top, picture up.
09:36Chiller, driller.
09:38One, two, no!
09:41Lady Frost so close to the win.
09:44So close.
09:46Now she's got to rethink the strategy.
09:48You can see the gears turning in her eyes that time, in her head.
09:53What do I do next?
09:55Could be looking for the frostbite, the corkscrew moonsault,
09:58but Riho not going to let her get there.
10:01Riho holding on, pulling back.
10:05Big forearm shot by the former world champ,
10:09who held on to the title for 133 days in the first title reign ever.
10:14Certainly the professor will be doing her studies
10:17watching this match, Serena Deeb.
10:19No doubt.
10:21Called out, wanted opposition.
10:24As we saw earlier, Riho answered that call.
10:28But certainly one would think if she's able to pick up the victory,
10:31Lady Frost could sidestep the former eight and women's champion.
10:36Great flexibility of those legs and a stomp from up top.
10:39Here it comes.
10:42Frostbite.
10:45Just the regular moonsault.
10:47One, two, no!
10:49The regular moonsault almost won it.
10:52I think Lady Frost there wanted to be cautious.
10:55She'd have gone for the corkscrew moonsault.
10:57The Frostbite.
10:58When her opponent had moved,
11:00she wouldn't have been able to adapt mid-flight.
11:02So a traditional moonsault meant,
11:04worst-case scenario, she could land on her feet.
11:06Right.
11:07Great call, Nigel.
11:08And look at this.
11:09Pick up over the top.
11:10No.
11:12Riho fighting off Lady Frost.
11:15Into a full Nelson here.
11:18Oh!
11:19And a dragon suplex from a full Nelson.
11:25Using some of the leverage we talked about earlier.
11:27Right.
11:28Oh!
11:29There's her!
11:30One, two, three!
11:34The winner of this match, Riho!
11:43Last time we were here, we had a dynamite here,
11:46and Riho retained the world title.
11:48This time she comes back with a brand-new hold
11:52that she calls Run Hay.
11:54And she wins it with her brand-new maneuver.
11:57How about that?
11:58A version of the SGO, space-time Ogawa,
12:00but a show of respect between competitors.
12:04Both suffering somewhat injuries in this match.
12:07Let's hope not too serious.
12:11Serena Deeb watching that one and that move very, very closely.
12:16Right now, we continue here on Collision with Lexi Nair.
12:19Lexi.
