Birmingham, despite its rich history and culture, hasn't always had the most rosey view by outsiders - and is the occasional butt of jokes. But has this attitude changed over recent years? I'm here in the city centre to find out peoples thoughts.

00:00When other people from outside of Birmingham hear the word Birmingham they normally think that it's a place that is not as safe because there's been many cases throughout the years and months and there's been a lot more school kids that think they can carry around knives and all that
00:28and to the outside people it doesn't feel as safe.
00:34Yeah I think it's changed a bit in the recent times like starting to be a bit more modern and stuff but other than that I just think it's, like you said, it is a bit naff. It's probably like second or third biggest city in the UK but probably good for a night out and that's about it.
00:53I think there's a lot of perception that everyone in Birmingham are chavs, that it's really like chavvy and like a dangerous place. It's like you don't really see that there's areas in Birmingham that is nice, like people aren't like what you see on the news and stuff.
01:19Birmingham is a really beautiful city, one of the most actually from the United Kingdom but it does have a lot of issues like health and safety concerns and sometimes I don't feel safe wearing my bracelet or my money.
01:36I do feel safe because of power but the thing is for others it's not like that and besides that the council is not seeing the bad things about that. They are looking to throw people out of their homes and things like that and they cannot clean a street.
