00:00Today was the first session of the Egyptian case, or as it was called, the case of the
00:20Egyptian cell.
00:21There were a number of Egyptian brothers, about 20 accused, 14 of them were present and
00:29the rest were refugees.
00:30They may have been out of the country, or most likely they were out of the country.
00:36Today the court began the formal proceedings of the dispute.
00:44The judge brought all the present accused and named the refugees from them.
00:50The charge was read by the public prosecutor and the judge asked each accused about the
00:57charges against them.
00:59Everyone denied the charges against them, and this is a legal right for them.
01:07Lawyers presented themselves to them, and some of them were aware of the case file, and
01:15they presented many of the requests, which the court saw that they responded to some of
01:22them.
01:23For example, they claimed that they were subjected to beating and torture, and the court,
01:32in order to achieve justice, or to achieve this justification, appointed a committee of
01:39experts from the legal field to conduct a physical examination of all the accused, to
01:47state if they were subjected to beating or torture.
01:51The United Arab Emirates Lawyers Association responded to some of the claims that we received
02:03from the people of the accused, in the presence of incorrect practices and violent actions
02:13against them.
02:15We met with the head of the State Security Council, and we verified all of these claims
02:22that were proven to be incorrect.
02:24We are the first to be held accountable in the presence of God, and in the presence of
02:29our conscience.
02:30I do not belong to a stable state, and I do not belong to a stable country, but to achieve
02:35justice, and to uphold the law, after the request of us and our government.
02:40I did not see, with my own eyes, and in the presence of God, I did not see any of them
02:47being subjected to torture.
02:49And I am responsible for this statement.
02:52But the court was keen to show that they were subjected to torture, by appointing a
02:59committee of experts from the legal field to conduct a physical examination of all the
03:05accused.
03:06And if it becomes clear to the court that there is torture, it will take this into
03:11consideration.
03:12But this argument is said by every accused.
03:16I was tortured psychologically.
03:19How did you torture me, brother?
03:21They put a dog in my hand.
03:24They put me in prison.
03:26These are normal procedures.
