00:00Hello everyone and welcome to MovieGasm.com where I'll be bringing you the latest in upcoming movie news.
00:05Today I'm going to be talking to you guys about what to expect in the upcoming 9th installment of the Alien franchise, Alien Romulus.

00:17I just forgot something, man. Before we talk, I think we ought to discuss the bonus situation.
00:23Right.
00:24We think we deserve full shares, right?
00:27As you can see by the title, Alien Romulus is the current working title of the 9th film in the Alien franchise,
00:33which started with Ridley Scott's iconic masterpiece in 1979.
00:36The film is set to be released on August 16th in 2024 and is directed by Fede Alvarez,
00:41who is known for his horror films Don't Breathe and Evil Dead.
00:44Alvarez co-wrote the script with Rodo Sayeges and Ridley Scott is serving as an executive producer on the film.
00:49Currently, the film is described as an original standalone entry that is unconnected to the previous films
00:54and it will feature a younger group of people on a distant planet who finds themselves in a confrontation with the most terrifying life form in the universe,
01:01the iconic Xenomorph.
01:03We don't know much more than that, but we can speculate based on the title that this film would show off a lot of the Xenomorph's home planet and the origins.
01:10This is very exciting to see since Alien Covenant and Prometheus, there's still so much about the Xenomorphs that remain a mystery.
01:16So a film tackling the origins of the Xenomorphs and showcasing their intelligence is something that's going to be very, very interesting to see.
01:23The cast of Alien Romulus includes Kaylee Spiney, David Johnson, Archie Renaud, Isabella Merced, Spike Fearn, and Aileen Wu.
01:30The film wrapped up filming in July 2023 after nearly four months of shooting in Budapest.
01:35Alvarez announced the end of the filming on Instagram with a celebratory post that showed him holding a cigar.
01:40So far, we haven't seen any official images or other promotional material for Alien.
01:44If you look at this picture from the director's Instagram celebrating Alien Day, in the background, it appears to show off some of the set from the upcoming movie.
01:51I can imagine the Great Hallway chase scene very similar to the original taking place in that hallway.
01:56And speaking of the original film, the film is expected to have a similar scope and tone to the original 1979 hit,
02:02which is more of a claustrophobic and suspenseful horror thriller that introduces us to one of the most iconic monsters in history.
02:09And personally, this is one of my favorite sci-fi horror films.
02:12So if Alien Romulus will be following a similar tone, that's something that I absolutely cannot wait for, and I can't wait to see what they do with that.
02:19Also, to add on to that, Alien Romulus is not the only project that will expand the Alien universe in the near future.
02:24Noah Hawley, the creator of Fargo and Legion, is developing an alien TV show for FX that will be set on Earth
02:30and explores what happens to humans when they have to deal with an alien invasion.
02:33And that's something that I'm really looking forward to.
02:35In general, I'm really excited for a new alien film.
02:39It's some of the best movies.
02:41My personal favorites being Alien and Aliens.
02:43I really like Prometheus as well.
02:45Alien Covenant had some things that could have been different, but it was still a decent film overall.
