RM950mil allocated under 12MP to reduce flood risk, says Fadillah

The Government has allocated RM950mil under the 12th Malaysia Plan (12MP) to conserve rivers to reduce flood risk and for emergency works arising from the disaster nationwide, Deputy Prime Minister and Energy Transition and Water Transformation Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof told Parliament on Tuesday (July 9).

00:00For your information, Mr. President, the management of railways and railways is managed by various parties,
00:06including the Malaysian Railways and Railways Administration, the Local Authority or PBT, the Regional Office, the JKR,
00:17as well as other related agencies and developers.
00:21The Minister of Energy and Water Transformation, Petra,
00:24has stated that the responsibility to build and maintain railways and buildings under the PBT
00:33is referred to the Road Regulation, Railways and Buildings Act 1974 or Act 133.
00:35Nevertheless, the Ministry will always cooperate with related agencies
00:39to ensure that the railways system can function properly.
00:44For the purpose of implementation at the level of institutions,
00:47the Ministry in 1996 has defined the responsibility division between PBT and JPS.
00:55All inland railways systems, namely domestic or airport railways systems, are under the responsibility of PBT.
01:05Meanwhile, all existing railways systems involving rivers and riverbanks are under the responsibility of JPS.
01:13A total of Rp 410 million has been allocated to maintain rivers
01:18to reduce the risk of flooding under the 12th Malaysia Plan to each country.
01:23In addition, JPS has also allocated Rp 540 million under the 12th Malaysia Plan
01:30to overseas workers in order to maintain damaged structures due to floods throughout the country.
01:39Nevertheless, the allocation division is based on the needs of each country.
01:45In total, a total of Rp 950 million has been allocated by the government
01:51for river maintenance workers to reduce the risk of flooding and emergency workers.

02:12due to the impact of the sea and the overflow of seawater
02:16such as what happened on Jalan Raya and the surrounding areas of Lutong Beach
02:20to ensure the safety and comfort of the residents in the affected areas.

02:27Honourable Members,
02:28Miri, in fact, there has been a settlement approved for Sarawak
02:32for a total of Rp 316.3 million
02:36involving 17 locations, namely 6 areas in Sarawak, namely Kucing, Betung, Mukah, Miri, Limbang and Semarahan.
02:46In fact, we are still waiting for the settlement process to be completed by the Ministry of Finance.
02:57It is hoped that this project, although it may not be easily completed,
03:02will be reduced to a large extent when it is implemented.
