Imbes na tagapagpatupad ng batas ilang pulis pa ang nahuhuling lumalabag sa mga ito at nasasangkot sa krimen. Ngayong taon lang, mahigit 500 pulis na ang na-dismiss sa serbisyo dahil sa grave offenses, ang ginagawa ng liderato ng PNP.

00:00Instead of enforcing the law, a few more police officers are fighting against them and getting involved in the crime.

00:09This year alone, more than 500 police officers have been dismissed from their jobs due to grave offenses.

00:16This is what the PNP's leader, Maki Pulido, pointed out.

00:22The two former police officers involved in the murder of the beauty queen, Geneva Lopez, and her boyfriend, Israeli,

00:31is the latest in a long list of activists and former members of the same institution that should be protecting the public but is behind the crime.

00:41Just last year, a police officer and his brother were arrested for committing a police operation.

00:47They were caught by Chinese nationals, who allocated half a million pesos in exchange.

00:53It seems like nothing is happening in the decades of promises of various leaders of the PNP to clean up their mess.

01:01The group of Volunteers Against Crime and Corruption, or VACC, was alarmed.

01:05We are lacking in their initiatives, in their cleansing.

01:12We can see their involvement in a series of different crimes.

01:17From January 1 to July 3, 2024, 325 PNP officers were dismissed from their jobs due to grave offenses.

01:26Four of them are police colonels, four are majors, and seven are police captains.

01:30Most of them are rank police patrolmen, police staff sergeants, and police corporals.

01:36Most of the cases are absence without leave or awol, followed by robbery extortion.

01:41There are also cases of homicide, rape, and murder.

01:44In total, this year alone, 525 were dismissed from their jobs.

01:49This is higher than last year.

01:51The PNP said that there are bad things being done to any organization, but they will not stop the campaign against them.

01:59It's not just the police that are involved in our cases, because we are also answering them, including their immediate supervisors.

02:06They are also arranging a background check for those who apply to be police.

02:12On the part of the PNP efforts to really determine what are the root causes, why are our police involved.

02:18Is there a problem in terms of recruitment? Is there a problem in terms of vetting the individuals who want to enter the service?

02:27I hope, said the VACC, that something will happen to the PNP's promises of cleaning up.

02:34The PNP should give us that peace of mind assurance that we can go home, or even safe at our own homes.
