00:00I thank you from the bottom of my heart.
00:09There is no one else who could not lead the GMA Kapuso Foundation.
00:15Through the GMA Kapuso Foundation, so many have been helped.
00:21Up until now, how many generations of youth have been taught in hundreds of schools
00:31that have been built by the GMA Kapuso Foundation?
00:35And how many of our countrymen have been served by the GMA Kapuso Foundation
00:44in different parts of the country?
00:48And how many thousands of Filipinos have been served by the GMA Kapuso Foundation
00:55in the provinces of our country, in the mountains, in the seas,
01:02wherever in the Philippines.
01:05This is one of the most important things that I have done for the GMA Network.
01:18It is to encourage the next generation of GMA Network employees.
01:29It is to encourage me, to encourage those who have left their duties,
01:33Mr. Mike Enriquez, rest in peace,
01:36to be the action man of our primetime newscast, 24 hours,
01:40and to be the receiver, to be the one who replaced the investigator.
01:43We are the hosts, trusted by the company,
01:46and above all, by the Filipinos, our countrymen,
01:50and of course, by the Almighty God,
01:52to be able to deliver rapid public services
01:55that have no demand, no exchange, and no personal interest.
01:58My proudest achievement in GMA 7 as a Kapuso is my longevity.
02:04It is hard to achieve that.
02:06In any profession, especially in journalism, especially in television,
02:12there is a lot of competition.
02:14There are many programs that do not last long.
02:17There are also many situations where you can get hurt.
02:21I am fortunate that I was able to survive until now
02:24because I was the first COVID patient in the Philippines.
02:27I almost couldn't survive that.
02:29My long career is probably my proudest achievement as a Kapuso.
02:35It is an opportunity to go to remote places in the Philippines
02:40and to be given the opportunity to tell their story.
02:45And to know that, no matter how small,
02:48you contributed to the change of that community.
02:52Because at the end of the day,
02:54our job as a journalist is to be an instrument of change
03:00and to be helpful to the community.
03:02So, when I find out that there are communities
03:05that somehow, after we told their story,
03:08there was a change in their lives,
03:14I am proud of that.
03:15I am happy because I feel that I did a good job.
03:19When I covered the historical stories
03:24like the World Trade Center bombing, tsunami in Thailand,
03:28the first lethal injection in the Philippines,
03:32the fall of Camp Abubakar,
03:35those are probably the moments where I can say,
03:39I am so proud being a Kapuso
03:42because I witnessed the events that will become a part of history.
03:48Not just in the Philippines, but in the whole world.
03:52My proudest moment was when I joined the line-up of iWitness.
03:55Because I've been watching them for a long time,
03:57I was just a kid.
03:58I idolized the journalists who became part of iWitness.
04:03So, it was like a dream came true
04:06when they told me that they will produce stories for iWit.
04:10And I've never looked back since.
04:13It's not just one single proudest moment, but proud moments.
04:17It's when somebody walks up to you and tells you,
04:20Sir, I was just a student watching you from the first row.
04:23Now, I have a job and I'm still watching you from the first row.
04:27It means that we grew up a lot,
04:29we graduated a lot,
04:31and we became a part of the lives of many Filipinos.
04:34In the last 24 years, I became a part of many shows on GMA.
04:37And it's always a proud thing
04:39to know that you were continued by the viewers in their lives.
04:44These are my proudest moments.
04:46These are my solo coverages,
04:48both abroad and here in the Philippines.
04:51I did a lot of coverages by myself
04:53because that's the exigency of a coverage.
04:55I was the only one who dove or went to war.
04:58I'm proud of that because, first of all,
05:00GMA trusted me to do that.
05:02It's a huge story and you're doing a solo coverage.
05:05And I'm also proud as a journalist
05:07that I was able to do that because it's hard,
05:10but very challenging and very rewarding at the same time.
05:13So those are my proudest moments.
