00:00Hello everyone and welcome to Moviegasm.com where I'm going to be bringing you the latest
00:03in upcoming movie news. And today we are going to be talking about the recent updates for Alien
00:08Romulus. Now directed by Fede Alvarez, Alien Romulus is set to be a standalone installment
00:18in the films and will be unconnected from the previous Alien movies. Now as mentioned in our
00:22last video here at Moviegasm, the plot is expected to see a young group of people exploring a planet
00:27which might be the home world for the Xenomorphs. So even though this movie is a standalone,
00:30it's expected to be set between the original Alien film in 1979 and the sequel Aliens,
00:35which will make it the first time that the franchise has returned to this era of the
00:38timeline. Excluding the prequels in Prometheus and Alien Covenant. Now Alvarez has been pretty
00:43tight-lipped about the project, but he did mention in an interview that he's excited to bring a fresh
00:46perspective to the franchise. Now the cast including Kaylee Spiney, Isabella Merced,
00:51David Johnson and R.G. Renaud have also expressed their excitement about the project. And as of
00:55right now there's been no official date announced yet for the trailer, but we can expect it to drop
00:59sometime maybe around spring. Now Alien Romulus is currently set for a theatrical release on August
01:0316th, 2024. So the spring trailer debut could line up pretty well since it'll be a couple months out
01:08before the film releases. Now recently there's been some behind the scenes photos from the set
01:12that we've seen online. We already got a first look at the set which seems to take some inspiration
01:15from Alien Isolation, which was a game that came out in 2014. And we're seeing that the set is
01:19showing a pretty similar aesthetic to that. The set design is actually something I'm looking forward
01:22to so I can't wait to see what they do with this. We even have the Creatures Effects team from
01:26Aliens who's also confirmed to be involved in this project. Now there were some leaks of the
01:30audition tapes that did surface online. We are not going to show these out of respect to the studio.
01:34However, we will touch a little bit on some of the details that we were able to see about the
01:38world that Alien Romulus is set in. These videos supposedly contained scenes featuring a character
01:43by the name of Bjorn who discovers an abandoned Weyland-Yutani ship and wants to use an android
01:48named Andy to gain access. Keep in mind we do not know exactly how much of this is true and if the
01:53audition tapes are even real so please take this with a grain of salt. We also don't know how much
01:56of this is actually going to end up in the final project. That's all the information that we have
01:59so far concerning the leaks. Now as for fan reactions for Alien Romulus is pretty high
02:03right now with a lot of fans excited to see the franchise return to the era between Alien and
02:07Aliens since those two films are highly regarded as some of the best movies ever made. And of course
02:11as mentioned the involvement of the Creatures Effects team has also sparked some interest
02:15among fans. However, there are some people who have expressed concerns about the film being a
02:19standalone installment and not connecting to the others at all. But hey with Ridley Scott the
02:23director from the original film there was reports of him actually seeing Alien Romulus and praising
02:27the film and pretty much giving it its cosign. So if Ridley Scott approves we'll just have to hope
