@Gocciedimemoria Valentina Elena Cortese Rossi di Coenzo (Milano, 1º gennaio 1923 – Milano, 10 luglio 2019) è stata un'attrice italiana, considerata una delle ultime dive del cinema e del teatro italiano.Giovanissima, si innamorò del direttore d’orchestra Victor de Sabata, di trentun anni più vecchio di lei, sposato e con figli, quindi lasciò il liceo per seguirlo a Roma dove si diplomò all’Accademia d’Arte Drammatica.Debuttò nel cinema in L'orizzonte dipinto (1940).Nel 1948 raggiunse Hollywood, dove firmò un contratto con la 20th Century Fox e lavorò accanto a celebri attori, come James Stewart e Spencer Tracy in Malesia (1949) di Richard Thorpe, e Orson Welles in Cagliostro (1949) di Gregory Ratoff. Malata da tempo, è morta il 10 luglio 2019 nella sua casa di Milano, all'età di 96 anni.E stata tumulata accanto al secondo marito nella tomba di famiglia, al "riparto VI" del cimitero monumentale del capoluogo lombardo.

At a very young age, she fell in love with the conductor Victor de Sabata , thirty-one years older than her, married and with children, so she left high school to follow him to Rome where she graduated from the Academy of Dramatic Arts. She made her film debut in The Painted Horizon (1940). In 1948 she reached Hollywood, where he signed a contract with 20th Century Fox and worked alongside famous actors, such as James Stewart and Spencer Tracy in Malaya (1949) by Richard Thorpe, and Orson Welles in Cagliostro (1949) by Gregory Ratoff. Sick for some time, she died on 10 July 2019 in her home in Milan, at the age of 96. She was buried next to her second husband in the family tomb, in "section VI" of the monumental cemetery of the Lombard capital. .
