जम्मू-कश्मीर के पूर्व सीएम उमर अब्दुल्ला ने आईसीसी चैंपियंस ट्रॉफी के लिए भारतीय टीम के पाकिस्तान न जाने की संभावनाओं पर कहा, "यह कौन सी नई बात है। काफी सालों से दोनों देशों ने द्विपक्षीय श्रृंखला नहीं खेली है, टूर्नामेंट के लिए न जाना बीसीसीआई का अपना फैसला है। उन्होंने कहा, मैंने हमेशा कहा है कि इन दोनों देशों में बेहतर रिश्ते कायम करना सिर्फ हमारे देश की जिम्मेदारी नहीं है, अगर दोनों मुल्कों में बेहतर रिश्ते बनाने है तो इसमें पाकिस्तान की भी जिम्मेदारी बनती है। इस तरह के हमले जो हो रहे हैं वह नहीं होने चाहिए, जिस तरह का माहौल है वह नहीं होना चाहिए, पाकिस्तान को भी इसमें अपनी भूमिका निभानी होगी जिससे दोनों देशों के रिश्ते बेहतर हों।"
