The Prince of Wales is marking the one-year anniversary of his five-year campaign called Homewards. The Prince of Wales, 42, hailed the work being done around the U.K. to help those without homes in a speech in London on July 11. Visiting Lambeth in south London, which is one of six areas where his Homewards project is being run, he said, “Homelessness is a complex societal issue, and one that touches the lives of far too many people in our society. However, I truly believe that it can be ended."

00:00For me, it's fantastic to be back in Lambeth where a year ago, I can't believe, we launched
00:15Homewards and began our journey of working together to demonstrate that it is possible
00:20to end homelessness. Homelessness is a complex societal issue and one that touches the lives
00:26of far too many people in our society. However, I truly believe that it can be ended. I created
00:32Homewards because I wanted us to look at the issue of homelessness through a different
00:36lens. To inspire a movement to prevent people from ever experiencing homelessness in the
00:42first place. I know this will take a huge effort and I know that demonstrating that
00:47homelessness is not an inevitable part of our society will take time. I have though
00:53been struck by the scale of the work that has been carried out since the launch of
00:56Homewards and I hope it is a powerful reminder to everyone of what can be achieved when we
01:02work together towards a shared goal.
