00:00You said everything happens for a reason.
00:02What meaning did you find in all of this for yourself?
00:04Well, I'll tell you, like a lot of people
00:06say, why didn't you go to rehab?
00:07Because I was offered a lot of free stays.
00:09But I chose the place where I went because, yes,
00:13and I openly admit, often, I used alcohol
00:16as a coping mechanism many times in my life
00:18when there were things going on.
00:21And I was doing that.
00:22And you can see it in just my face at the reunion last year.
00:27And the DUI happened right after that.
00:30My kids were leaving.
00:31It was just a lot of stuff going on, never
00:33an excuse for any of it.
00:35But I just, for me, I don't even know.
00:43I'm all over the place.
00:44So I don't even know.
00:45What was the original to take me back?
00:47What the meaning is.
00:48Oh, what the meaning is.
00:49Yeah, and I mean, look, I don't want
00:51to take what happened to me lightly at all and say,
00:55like, well, we got it planned.
00:56Because I could have hurt someone.
00:58If I would have hurt Archie, who, by the way,
01:00was checked out and fine, and I wasn't fake walking him
01:04after the DUI either, I was going back
01:07to take accountability.
01:08But I don't know how I would have handled it
01:12had I hurt somebody.
01:13So I'm so incredibly grateful for that.
01:15But I made a horrible choice very late in my life.
01:19And I considered myself a better example than that.
01:23And so I've got to make changes.
01:27And it has forced me to look at my life.
01:31And as I look at it right now, I have a lot of work to do.
01:35It's probably lifelong.
01:36But I feel good about myself.
01:39And I don't want to be in a relationship, which is crazy.
01:41Really?
01:42OK.
01:42Because that's me.
01:43I'm like, if I'm not in a relationship,
01:46that's my purpose.
01:47And I have zero desire to.
01:50I want to have a relationship with myself.
01:52When people see that bloody shot, it's very jarring.
01:57What was it like for you to see that for the first time, too?
02:00Well, I didn't know I had taken it.
02:02I discovered it after the DUI, because I had some head trauma.
02:07So I didn't remember everything.
02:09I kind of went unconscious that night.
02:13So I didn't even know that I had taken it.
02:15But it was a lot for me to see.
02:17And it's like, wow, all that can happen
02:21in a snap of a finger.
02:23Well, you said in 10 seconds, your life changed.
02:25Yeah.
02:26Well, all these things that had never
02:27happened to me at flipping 59 years old.
02:30Like, yeah, if you're an immature teenager,
02:32you might get off by saying, yeah, I did that.
02:35No, I'm the frickin' supposed responsible person at 59.
02:39Like, really horrible.
