00:00Wimbledon is the ultimate tennis tournament.
00:04I think it's the oldest.
00:07And it has some wonderful British quirks
00:09that I think Americans absolutely love.
00:12It's played on grass.
00:14There's a very strict dress code.
00:16And then we have lovely quirks like,
00:17it's traditional to drink Pimms.
00:20We have strawberries and cream.
00:22And all of that is being replicated here in New York.
00:24All right, now show us, you're a little bit in a heat here.
00:27I am, yes.
00:28We're gonna do a little sort of like you're in the Oscars.
00:31Tell us what you're wearing type of thing.
00:32Of course, so I'm wearing a Me and Em British dress.
00:36Me and Em have just opened actually in New York.
00:39Amazing British designer.
00:40And then I've also got my strawberries and cream purse.
00:43Yes, notice.
00:44Is that right?
00:45This is actually a Gucci purse.
00:46Gucci, of course, that is very apropos, right?
00:49It's very good.
00:50It's a good collaboration.
00:51Right?
00:52Okay, now tell me, do you think tennis is bigger
00:54here in the US or in the UK?
00:57Ooh, it's a really good question.
01:00I think that tennis is universally loved.
01:03I think that the Brits go mad for it.
01:06But we know because we're here again for a third year
01:09that Americans love it as well.
01:12The US Open is an incredible tournament.
01:14In fact, one of the women's finalists made it
01:17to the US Open only a month ago.
01:21And I think, you know, it's a great opportunity
01:23for tennis fans to come together.
01:25Should the US Open watch out
01:27that you're like treading on their territory?
01:30Do you know what?
01:31We're not worried about that.
01:33Wimbledon is so traditional and it's so historic
01:37that I think there is room for both.
01:41All right, can I ask you, do you have a favorite place
01:44in New York where to have English tea afternoon tea?
01:47Oh, well, there are some wonderful places,
01:50but Tea and Sympathy, which is down in the village,
01:53is my absolute favorite.
01:56And they even use the three-tiered plates
01:58to present the food, so it's wonderful.
02:02I would say, though, there is a big contentious issue
02:05around how you make a cup of tea.
02:07You do not put salt in it.
02:09You put the teabag in first, then you pour the hot water.
02:12A dash of milk, that's it.
02:14All right, and so that's the word
02:16for the UK's top diplomat in New York City, right?
02:20How to make a good cup of tea.
02:21Exactly, right.
02:22It's very important.
02:24Rots of wisdom.
02:27Happy Wimbledon weekend.
