00:00House for one minute and to revise and extend my remarks. Without objection the
00:03gentlelady's recognized for one minute. Our health care system and social
00:08service programs were not designed with all people in mind. For decades people
00:14with disabilities have been overlooked and ignored. They face barriers to
00:19receiving health care such as discrimination and inaccessible medical
00:22equipment that have led to poorer health outcomes. Negative bias and
00:27discrimination against people with disabilities has no place in our health
00:31care system. After 50 years of tireless advocacy by the disability community the
00:37Department of Health and Human Services has finally strengthened civil rights
00:41protections for people with disabilities. The Biden administration's new rule
00:45brings us closer to fully realizing protections under current law by
00:50prohibiting discrimination on the basis of disability and getting all Americans
00:55health care that meets their individual needs. I'm proud to celebrate this
01:00achievement and the remarkable advocacy of the disability community that made it
01:05possible. I yield back.
