00:00I'm here on Collington Road and I've just spoken to police officers regarding the incident
00:07that is taking place. A fire has broken out just opposite George Watson College in a block
00:13of flats. Firstly, I'd just like to reassure residents that everybody in the flats is safe
00:20and well, which is fantastic news. Now, police officers told me that there was an electrical
00:26fault. A laptop caught fire and that fire then went through the building. It went right
00:33up to the roof and at the moment they're concerned that the roof may collapse. Now, the residents
00:40in the houses around the area have been told that they can stay in their properties as
00:47there is no danger to them. But police have told me that they will be working through
00:52the night with the fire brigade to keep this blaze under control. So, if you use this
00:59area, if you live in my ward, please avoid this area. If you can, tomorrow as the road
01:05will be closed for some time. As you can see, police officers behind me and fire brigades
01:11are working away. They've done a sterling job but the incident is still ongoing. But
01:17as I said earlier, I'm pleased to say that none of my residents have been harmed. There's
01:22nobody been taken to hospital for any treatment as yet. But this blaze is still ongoing and
01:29the emergency services are on the scene and they're doing their very best and I will keep
01:34you updated as your local councillor.
