Google is reportedly in advanced talks to acquire the cybersecurity firm Wiz for $23 billion, which would be its largest acquisition ever. Wiz is an Israeli cybersecurity startup founded in 2020 that provides cloud security services to help companies monitor their cloud infrastructure and detect threats. Wiz had been planning an IPO earlier this year when it reached a $12 billion valuation in May 2024. Acquiring Wiz would help Google expand its own cybersecurity capabilities as threats increase from state actors and criminals. Google previously acquired the cybersecurity company Mandiant for $5.4 billion in 2022.
