Birmingham's Olympic anticipation following Euros defeat

With England's tough loss to Spain in the Euros 2024 final, focus is now on the Olympics. I went around Birmingham to find out if people are planning to watch the Games and which sports they are looking forward to the most.

00:00Not really a sports fan but even I did watch the England game, I did see it, I think Spain played well, we probably could have done a little bit better, sad to lose but I thought it was at least a nice moment for everyone to get together.
00:15As for the Olympics, again I don't tend to follow the sport but I do, but I still watch it, kind of nice to see everyone competing, healthy competition, sportsmanship, all that sort.
00:29No to the football, didn't watch it as I was at work, Olympics yeah maybe, might watch it.
00:38On the other way, I'm disappointed about the football, I'm not really bothered about it, I might see bits of it but I'm not really bothered.
00:46I was disappointed with the game, I was looking forward to England smashing it but fair play for the Spanish, they worked hard and I must take my hat off to them.
00:57So yes I'm looking forward to the Olympics.
01:02Are there any particular sports in the Olympics that you're excited about?
01:07The runners, I'm a runner myself, I like long distance running, I am training for the London Marathon next year.
01:18What was the other ones?
01:22The swimmers, I like the swimmers as well.
01:27Yeah definitely looking forward to the Olympics.
01:29Yeah definitely, like all of it, love the swimming, really enjoy the swimming, always watch that and the athletics, always watch the athletics.
01:37Just the variety.
01:38Yeah.
01:40Wonderful, and as it comes through, did you feel any sense of defeat because of England losing the Euros on wealth?
01:50And I don't feel any sense of defeat, they did well, they came second, look on the bright side.
