00:00Is this as effective as these chokeholds which can be lethal?
00:08The safe wrap was originally designed for healthcare applications.
00:11Hospitals came to us and said, hey, we struggle to hold a patient in a way that is safe for the patient
00:16and safe for the healthcare professionals.
00:18So they asked us, can you guys help devise a technique?
00:21Well, the safe wrap was born, and it was so effective, in fact, that I said, wow,
00:24this might have law enforcement applications equally, if not more important than in the healthcare institutions.
00:29And lo and behold, it does, and we're very honored now to be working with the New York Police Department.
00:33We've trained all their trainers, and they have the task of now rolling this out
00:36to the rest of the agency of 30,000-plus officers.
00:39You're going to show us a demonstration here on how this works in just a moment.
00:43I just wanted to know, are there other police agencies that have reached out to you,
00:49having heard what's going on with NYPD?
00:51We're talking to Ohio Department of Public Safety.
00:53We're talking to the U.S. Border Patrol.
00:55We're talking to the Los Angeles Police Department.
00:57It literally is only two months old, so it's a very exciting new prospect when it comes to law enforcement restraint.
01:02The conventional method of two-on-one restraint is not only unreliable,
01:07it's actually dangerous in many ways.
01:09It has four fatal flaws, which I'm happy to point out here.
01:12My brother Hedon is here, and one of your own, Connor, is here to help us today as well.
01:15Because it's hard to hold someone down, lay on top of him.
01:17Don't let him get up. Lay your whole body weight on him.
01:19Lay on him, lay on him, lay on him, lay on him.
01:21I'm going to lay on him, and now I'm going to lay.
01:22The problem is now we're holding him down, but he's going to struggle to breathe
01:24because there's so much compression of his lungs.
01:26The safe wrap is a completely new approach, even from standing up.
01:28So oftentimes when officers want to arrest someone standing up,
01:31they'll each grab a lamber.
01:32They're trying to pull the person and get him to the ground.
01:34And Connor, stay strong on your stance. Don't fall down.
01:36It's hard to get him to the ground because there's no plan.
01:38But if you turn facing me, Connor, and I just grab his neck and his arm,
01:40Connor, stay standing up. Do not fall no matter what.
01:42Do not fall, Connor. Connor, do not fall.
01:44Connor, Connor.
01:46Look how easily I've taken him down, and now I'm going to establish my grips here.
01:49We're going to turn him on his side, and now check this out.
01:51Hedon's going to lace his legs up in a unique configuration.
01:53Look, over, under, and lock.
01:55And this right here is called the safe wrap.
01:57So that's $1,000 U.S. cash right there.
01:59Hedon, throw that other thing right out front here.
02:01And that's a knife.
02:03Connor, if you can get either one of those.
02:05If you touch the cash, it's yours.
02:07If you get the knife, stab us, and then get away and get the cash.
02:09Go.
02:11Connor.
02:13Connor, we'd advise you get the money.
02:15They said get the money. Forget the knife.
02:17Connor, get the money.
02:19It's $1,000 U.S. cash right there.
02:21Come on, Connor.
02:23It's $1,000.
02:25Is it happening or not?
02:27No, that's it.
02:29Now, Connor, the most important question.
02:31Can you breathe on your own?
02:33Easily.
02:35There you go.
02:37Are we strangling you at all?
02:39No.
02:41Is there anywhere on your body where there's a joint lock or pressure point that is hurting you?
02:43No.
02:45Nothing.
02:47What are the chances that you get that cash right now?
02:49Almost impossible.
02:51That's what we learn in as little as four to eight hours of training per year.
02:53Once the officer learns it, it's like CPR.
02:55Right?
02:57What CPR is to emergency first aid,
02:59safe wrap is to emergency restraint.
