The Public and Communication Services (PCS) union has given an update on union talks with G4S and the GMB union as a long-lasting dispute over pay for Sheffield Jobcentre security staff continues.

00:07How's the progress been over the last few weeks?
00:11Yeah, well, we're thinking we're making progress.
00:13I think it's important that we recognise there's a new government in place and we're hoping
00:18the government can bring the G4S in-house so they're employed directly by the DPP.
00:22We think that would have a massive impact on wages and terms and conditions.
00:27Obviously, we haven't had that news yet, but that was part of our manifesto and we
00:31expect them to fill that place.

00:34Talk to us about what it is that both the PCS and the GMB are after for these guys.
00:38I think it's just about fair pay.
00:39We've got people here who work six days a week, they're contracted to five days, they have
00:43to work an extra day just to put some food on the table and be able to do some basic
00:47things for their family.
00:48So this is really important.
00:50It's about poverty pay.
00:51These are guards here working in this job centre who deal with very difficult situations
00:56such as violence on a daily basis and protecting our civil servants who do a really important
01:01job serving the public, but also they do a vital job in protecting their civil servants.
