00:00These are my top five surf hacks.
00:01We'll start it off with number five,
00:03wax the top of your feet.
00:04When you're walking around, you got sand, dust, dirt,
00:07a little layer on the bottom of your feet.
00:09When you get out in the water,
00:10rub both feet on top of each other
00:11and that removes all of that dirt
00:13and trust that when you stand up,
00:14you're not gonna slip off.
00:15Number four, never wanna feed your leash string
00:17through itself.
00:18Your leash string can pull through your board
00:20and break the tail.
00:21So to fix this,
00:22you simply just feed the leash string through
00:24like you normally would
00:25and then put your leash through both of these holes here
00:27so that when you get pulled by a strong wave,
00:29you're not gonna rip through the board.
00:30Number three, pick your surfboard wisely.
00:32If you're a beginner,
00:33addicted to just riding a foamy or a long board,
00:35you could ride this thing
00:36until you're comfortable catching waves by yourself.
00:38Once you've mastered that,
00:39you can jump onto a mid-length,
00:40something that's a little shorter and more maneuverable.
00:42Next, you can jump onto a short board.
00:44Number two, once you're out in the water,
00:46I want you to identify a lineup marker on land,
00:49a house, a palm tree, a lifeguard tower
00:52so that once you catch a wave,
00:53you could just paddle right back out
00:55and you'd be like, okay,
00:55I'm in the right spot to catch the best waves
00:57that are coming in.
00:58Number one, talk yourself through your waves.
01:01Sometimes the excitement of riding the wave
01:02can take over and distract you
01:04from utilizing a wave to its full potential.
01:07Literally from the point that you stand up
01:08to the end of the ride,
01:10tell yourself what to do.
01:11For example, here's my first section.
01:13I'm gonna do a snap.
01:14Let's wait up.
01:14This section's a little soft.
01:16I'm gonna hit this turn a little lighter.
01:17There's an end section.
01:19There it is.
01:20Boom.
