00:00All right, Island Hoppers, today we're coming to you from Dana Point.
00:22We are going to walk around.
00:23Yes, I'm going to be wearing my mask a lot, but I'm up here on the lookout point.
00:29Let's get started.
00:32What's going on everybody, this is Island Hopper TV and today we are coming to you from
00:36Dana Point.
00:37You can see we are right now driving past San Clemente on the California Surfliner,
00:43which is also known as the California Coaster.
00:46So we're about to arrive in San Juan Capistrano and then head down to Dana Point.
00:52In this video, we're going to go on a whale watch and then we're going to walk around
00:56Dana Point up top, so stick around for that at the end.
01:01All right everybody, welcome back to Island Hopper TV and now we are going to go on a
01:09Dana Point whale watching excursion.
01:11Let's do this.
01:14Okay, so here we are heading out of the harbor here.
01:40Right when we came out of the Dana Point Harbor, we did see a gray whale right away
01:44and we are headed over there right here.
01:49Just waiting for the gray whale to emerge and take a breath.
02:37So the captain heard there was a humpback whale and now we're headed over to check him
03:04So here is Dana Point Wharf, sports fishing, whale watching, Catalina Express, you can
03:28do all that from right here in Dana Point.

03:58All right, lots of action down here on the wharf.
04:29All right, so now we're going to go on the other side of Dana Point towards some of these
04:36beaches and actually in the direction of Laguna Niguel, so we're going to keep cruising around
04:42here.
04:43This is just the wharf, lots of boats down here.
04:59Beautiful day, a little bit of marine layer still burning off even though it's 1.30 in
05:04the afternoon, a few restaurants over there, beautiful bridge and harbor over here.
05:19Keep this walking tour moving along here.
05:27This is like part two of Dana Point's harbor.
05:32Down over here is going to be a place called Baby Beach, got yacht sails and chargers.
05:45Look at those homes.
05:58Here we are at Baby Beach now, at the tip, southern side or the southeastern side, should
06:06we call it that, Dana Point, this little area here is Beach, Baby Beach, then we'll go on
06:15the other side of that, Dana Point there, look at all those homes.
06:21It's really relaxing here, a wonderful little place to just chill out and relax.
06:33Alright, so right now we are up on Del Prado, just coming up into the little area here and
06:44here we are on Del Prado Avenue.
06:51Coming up onto the actual walking area towards Pacific Coast Highway.
06:59So this is up on top of the bluff overlooking the harbor.
07:14And what I've been told, you should do a Mai Tai at the Windensee, this is Bon Jour
07:24Cafe, but yeah, the Windensee is where I've been told you'll want to get the Mai Tai.
07:37So now we're going to go check out this overlook here, see what kind of views we get down there
07:43towards Dana Point.
07:46Here I just want to show you guys the roads down here, the alleyway is pretty cool.
07:54So I just want to show you guys this here overlook, Violet Lantern, it's better to just
08:05walk down here, Camino Capistrano.
08:10You can see the trail here, really nice trail, look at this view, oh wow, absolutely amazing.
08:22Wow, look at that view, let's just see what this trail has to offer a little bit.
08:41Look at this statue, hello.
08:53Interesting little history here, it's called the hide drawer, so it looks like New England
08:59sailors would throw cow hides down this cliff here to be taken away on ships.
09:06You can see, they just throw it right off that cliff, that's what that statue is for.
09:14Wow, this trail is quite the trail, and then there, way out there is the overlook.
09:44I want to stay on the concrete, wow, unbelievable huh?
10:15Great views.
10:20So, the overlook is all the way over there.
10:27So over this bridge up ahead here is an overlook that gives you a really good vantage point
10:33of what Dana Point looks like from high above out the harbor.
10:44Wow.
11:15Wow.
11:28There was a sheriff's helicopter that was flying overhead looking for some people, and
11:33that's what you hear is that loud helicopter, a sheriff chopper.
11:44Wow.
11:46Wow.
11:48Wow.
12:11So this is the Dana Point Lantern District that we just came out of.
12:16You can see the sign here, named after Richard Henry Dana, Jr.
12:25They used to have all sorts of different lanterns, ruby lanterns and what not, right down that road.
12:31Del Prado, so this here is Pacific Coast Highway, but right here is a little history of the
12:38Lantern District Arch and the old Dana Inn.
12:47So here we have the Hilltop Conservation Park.
12:52I'm going to walk up this to the top, save you guys the drama of hiking it, but show
13:00you what it's like up there.
13:02Alright, the top of the hilltop, a little bit of a hike there.
13:09Please excuse my heavy breathing.
13:12Look at that view.
13:17A little bit of marine layer sticking around.
13:22This is what it looks like from the conservation area.
13:27There's a high point all the way up there if you wanted to hike there.
13:31I'm not doing that.
13:34We're still headed to Laguna.
