00:00For those who are looking for a job abroad,
00:02Filipino health and skilled workers are in need in Singapore and Saudi Arabia.
00:07First news, JP Soriano.
00:13The Ambassador of Singapore to the Philippines,
00:17and DMW-Aden's Secretary, Hans Leo Kavdak,
00:21were even invited to join the Philippine-Singapore Friendship Week.
00:25The friendship also resulted in almost 200,000 Filipinos
00:29choosing to work or live in Singapore.
00:33Now, more Filipino skilled workers are needed there.
00:37Their priority is also Filipino nurses.
00:40Now, the need here is growing.
00:43We will be needing a lot more healthcare and allied healthcare workers,
00:47including nursing aides, and so there has been a push to recruit more of them.
00:54Aside from Singapore, there is a job opportunity for Filipino workers in Saudi Arabia.
01:00Secretary Kavdak, who is originally from Saudi Arabia,
01:04replaced the need there with additional Filipino health and skilled workers.
01:09But mainly, because of the development of what they call giga-cities or mega-cities projects,
01:16then it will be along the lines of construction.
01:20One of the people applying for a job in Saudi Arabia is the former OFW in Kuwait, Annalyn.
01:25She says she is still nervous, especially for a conservative and small country that is capable of working.
01:32Our lives are at risk there.
01:34We don't know what we will face.
01:39That's why we need to be secured.
01:42That's what DMW is trying to do.
01:45That's why they decided to review, before possibly renewing,
01:49the current bilateral labor agreement between the Philippines and Saudi Arabia.
01:53And we're talking to them in terms of labor protection,
01:57in terms of safe, fair, ethical recruitment processes,
02:00access to justice, and other forms of protection,
02:03entitlements and health insurance, and standard contracts.
02:07Secretary Kavdak also asked for additional forgiveness to the affected workers in Saudi Arabia
02:12who have not yet received unpaid wages or their salary from oil companies.
02:21Up to 2,500 affected workers have already received unpaid wages,
02:28which is worth up to 130 million Saudi riyals or 1.9 billion pesos.
02:36But there are still more than 2,000 who have not yet received it.
02:41We just have to be a little patient.
02:44Because from the Saudi side, this is an interagency effort.
02:47From the Philippine side, Department of Migrant Workers, DMA, Joint Forces.
02:52This is the first news.
