00:00Microsoft users worldwide are reporting outages affecting banks, broadcasters and
00:06airlines. Major US airlines in the US have been grounded, a similar story in
00:11Europe and Asia. Technology outage has affected banks and media as well.
00:16Microsoft earlier said it was taking mitigation action. The outage believed
00:21to be linked to a faulty update by cybersecurity firm CrowdStrike. Its shares
00:27have plunged 20% in pre-market trading in New York. Let's see how all of this is
00:34affecting the world's most populous country. Our correspondent Navadita
00:39Kumari standing by in New Delhi. We can speak to her now. Hello to you
00:42Navadita. How has India been impacted by this outage? India has severely been
00:53impacted by this global outage, especially in the aviation sector. A
00:57couple of Indian airlines including SpiceJet, Air India Express and Indigo,
01:03which is the largest airlines in India, have reported that they are facing
01:08service disruption. Three major airports including Delhi, Mumbai and Jaipur are
01:13facing major issues. Delhi Airport being one of the top busiest airports in the

01:25passengers. Airlines have said that they are not able to print boarding pass so
01:30they have switched to handwritten boarding pass and they are also saying
01:35that their display information screens are not working, creating a lot of chaos
01:40and confusion among the passengers. The average delay in the flights are
01:45reported to be between 30 and 40 minutes so you can imagine the kind of
01:50crowd gathered at these airports. Also, several Indian firms are saying that
01:57their services are impacted and they are not able to fully operate. Many of their
02:02employees have not been able to switch on their computers since 6 a.m. local
02:07time and the Indian government has said that they are in touch with the
02:10Microsoft and trying to find a way to resolve this issue as soon as
02:16possible. While just a few minutes ago Indian TVs have reported that a few of
02:21the services at the Delhi Airport have been restored so that's a good news but
02:25that's all from now.
