00:00My great-uncles were Frank Canes and Albert Canes and they both served in the First World War.
00:10Frank Canes went into the war in the November and he actually got killed in the March of 1915
00:21and Albert Canes entered the war a bit earlier but he actually got injured before the Christmas
00:29of 1914 and was invalidated out of service then and never went back to fighting the war.
00:38I've done quite a bit of research on both of them through Ancestry and just researching the
00:43family history and I've always wondered where the medals had gone and put it out there that
00:50I was looking for the medals and then amazing surprise then to have Gordon contact me and
00:57say that he had the medals so yeah great. Quite emotional to have them back and to think that
01:03I've got the medals that they had over 100 years ago yeah fantastic. I bought them off a chap,
01:11they come with another group of medals which belonged to his family who went to a friend of
01:16mine and those were Frank's and Albert's medals were put aside and sat aside for three years
01:28and recently I thought I'd do a further research to see if we could find any of the living
01:34relatives and lo and behold Lisa had done some real great research and for some reason Google
01:43went straight to the top of the page and found a Facebook page and went on Facebook page and
01:49sort of left a message and here we are the medals have gone back to where they should.
