00:00:17we continue our outriders demo playthrough
00:00:23oh we are on this is episode 3 I guess I'm actually I'm really surprised at
00:00:36just how much demo there is so yeah I don't know how much longer I have on
00:00:49this demo like how far it goes could be a short episode I'm not going to write
00:00:57McCain off yet he's one tough son of a bitch
00:01:00oh I know you're dialogue questions I don't have time you let me sleep in a
00:01:08few too many fucking years I think you can find some time
00:01:20okay how did this war start again why'd you start fighting when the anomaly got
00:01:27bad we had only just begun the colonization there were still more than
00:01:33half a million frozen in cryo waiting for us to wake them but we already knew
00:01:39we couldn't feed them all so one faction argued to just pull the power and let
00:01:47them die in their sleep preserve the resource oh boy the others wanted to
00:01:53give them a chance to live I can guess which side you were on I was I was wrong
00:02:00we tried to be fair and to ration what we had but it only led to bloodshed your
00:02:13enemy what did they want what do any of us want to have enough but there isn't
00:02:21enough food enough water anything they won't settle until they have all we have
00:02:26they want to destroy us so I need to destroy them first I don't understand
00:02:34how there's so many people though that's what I don't get what am I now altered
00:02:41help me understand what do you want to know how many are there there are lesser
00:02:49ones all over with small and strange mutations but those with true power only
00:02:56a handful still more than I'm comfortable with but the soldiers revere
00:03:02them as gods the other altered out there who do they fight for whoever the
00:03:15fuck they want you think anyone controls them the ones who fight with us they at
00:03:21least seem to have a reason for it some shred of humanity still but on the other
00:03:26side they're demonic wrathful gods machines of death there's nothing human
00:03:32left that won't happen I pray that's true okay
00:03:56this is insane I've watched you take this photo a few hours ago that was a
00:04:06lifetime ago that girl you met that day is long gone
00:04:13girl never survived take it I don't need it anymore okay why why do I want
00:04:27it yeah just throwing it back you've been gone too long to understand how
00:04:39truly fucked we are there can be more than 50 or 60,000 of us left more on the
00:04:46other side than ours soon they'll be none of us left to fight the insurgents
00:04:52last assault was a distraction there were digging tunnels and planting
00:04:58charges right beneath us they blew our front line all to hell I noticed the
00:05:06reports of casualties are uncountable and one of my best men was out there
00:05:11lieutenant McCain but a message just got through and he's trapped under the
00:05:17rubble still alive I don't have any moment to spare so I need to go save him
00:05:24I need you to get him out it's the least I just hope it's not like an escort
00:05:33mission gods do I hate escort missions I want to hear the moment our search
00:05:39parties turn up anything about McCain

00:06:24I guess we'll do this one first and then yeah that's main quest so we'll do the

00:06:40hope bullshit for losers who can't accept the world has gone to shit but I
00:06:45guess that's our goddamn mission now so meet us at my garage when you're ready

00:07:20these loading screens are so long this really does remind me of one of those
00:07:30what is it focus home interactive RPGs the dialogue is a little weird in the
00:07:40freaking loading screens I don't know I generally have a positive experience
00:07:55with those RPGs but they're usually kind of like hmm how can you say it they I
00:08:08find they're usually like a Witcher style RPG but just done on a budget it's
00:08:21like the b-movie version it's like if you if you like
00:08:32oh cool I didn't know you could do that
00:08:44yeah so it's like if you like Lord of the Rings and then you decide to watch
00:08:55in the name of the king or something like maybe you could enjoy it and it's
00:09:04a similar sort of thing like there's you know all those sort of like sword
00:09:13sword and sorcery and stuff like that oh okay so they don't respond but it's
00:09:28just not the same level
00:09:32this is where the collapse started I don't McCain survive this I don't need
00:09:38your doubts I don't need your doubts now should I do this or should I go for
00:09:51that exclamation point I guess we'll do it we'll just go here and do this

00:10:18was that necessary we couldn't just hopped it and then I guess they needed a
00:10:27loading screen because it's another zone
00:10:30is that it wow the number of loading screens is just like I don't want to be
00:10:43too hard on this game it is what it is like it's a yeah it really reminds me of
00:10:51like a lower area objective I don't know it's like a lower quality RPG not low
00:11:09quality like I don't know like it's made by people who
00:11:22I don't know how to explain it I don't know how to say it nicely like people
00:11:27who probably are very passionate about what they're doing
00:11:39but
00:11:43maybe don't have the budget or
00:11:47the experience
00:11:50and that's you know that's not to knock them like it is what it is but it's
00:12:19Square Enix so you would think that they would I guess it is a demo I'm I'm
00:12:25judging it more based on the the dialogue
00:12:34which is really funny
00:12:40and
00:12:43yeah the other thing that's probably a little unfair is that I'm also judging
00:12:53it based on the fact
00:13:00that I don't really like these online style RPG stuff
00:13:10like
00:13:14I'm kind of comparing it to like a really good single-player RPG which just
00:13:25isn't fair I guess because they're different like they're different games
00:13:30right you know
00:13:33different styles the single-player stuff tries really hard to you know focus on
00:13:48the storylines and making sure everything runs really smoothly
00:13:56whereas typically with like online stuff what's the main focus well to make an
00:14:18enjoyable multiplayer or co-op experience right you're gonna have a
00:14:32greater focus on on other aspects
00:14:48I would say that the way
00:15:19this kind of fails for me in them like the most negative thing is just how kind
00:15:29of repetitive it is right
00:15:35which again that's because it's a multiplayer thing like they just want
00:15:50you to do this kind of multiplayer missions and that's that

00:19:32keeps telling you to be aggressive but that's impossible when you're being
00:19:37blown up you need to retreat due to the number of grenades right

00:35:13kind of the impression I'm getting from the whole game actually like I'm not
00:35:21gonna lie this is like it just feels like there's no point to things like
00:35:31you're just I don't know maybe I just need to keep going but it's
00:35:52like the story it was so interesting at first and it's progressively just
00:36:00getting less interesting I guess because they just wanted you to have this
00:36:04constant warfare because they want to have a game where it just goes on
00:36:13indefinitely right but I don't know
00:36:23everlast okay let's try it yeah I find when they do these kind of things like
00:36:35online stuff where they just want indefinitely going on so that they can
00:36:41usually they want you to buy like loot crates or whatever other bullshit that
00:36:45they've got you know some kind of an online store right the story ends up
00:36:53taking a real hit because of that because there's no what's the word
00:37:04closure like there's no conclusion right like you're just going on forever
00:37:11in this state of war or whatever and I feel like that's probably what this is
00:37:19going to be
00:37:23search for items madam of war
00:37:31okay I don't know who that is like this looks cool like the world itself looks
00:37:41pretty cool and the overall story of what's going on could be great like you
00:37:48could do like a whole yeah like this war but that I feel like it's just the way
00:37:59it's being done like it's just I don't know the very the very beginning like
00:38:12that intro the prologue was so cool
00:38:17but yeah I don't know it's just losing its luster let me know what you guys
00:38:29think though like maybe I'm just being a downer about it maybe it's actually
00:38:34pretty cool but like I feel like it's just rinse and repeat go to a mission
00:38:40zone get into a firefight like this you take cover you shoot them you send your
00:38:54whatever attacks out
00:38:59your magic attacks maybe fight one of those other dudes and that's it it's
00:39:13just rinse and repeat over and over
00:39:24like I feel like even a game like a straight-up shooter like Call of Duty or
00:39:39something it has more story than this or more I don't know if story is the right
00:39:48word okay I just got killed more like during the mission so during these
00:40:06missions it's literally just
00:40:11it's just this like there's nothing else there's nothing which I imagine is
00:40:18done purposely so that when you're playing with people right you can play
00:40:23co-op or something and you you're shouting back and forth with tactics or
00:40:28whatever so they just want like generic enemy chatter you know things like that
00:40:42whereas you know you play like a Call of Duty or something you get you're
00:40:48shooting and stuff and then you get to a point and then it's like oh hey we need
00:40:57to blow up this thing in order to pass through the bridge line or something
00:41:12so any so yeah so there's always like something kind of going on those more
00:41:25sort of scripted events
00:41:32rather than just everything being very generic
00:41:42because that's what I'm feeling right now is just everything is just very very
00:41:57generic
00:42:06which you know I guess maybe I should have
00:42:15looked into a little bit more I just thought it was a straight-up RPG

00:44:19actually maybe a better comparison would be like Borderlands you know this
00:44:30similar to Borderlands which even that game is a little boring and single-player
00:44:39I played it with a friend and it was a lot of fun I played it single-player oh

00:45:15because it's yeah I guess Borderlands is a lot like this it's just like those
00:45:25constant kind of generic
00:45:30firefights right
00:45:35I guess I gotta wait
00:46:15I definitely prefer the graphics and the style of this over something like
00:46:29Borderlands though I never really got into that really cartoony
00:46:37style that they went for I always prefer a realism look

00:49:59again I'm being very critical of the game I guess you could say but I am
00:50:10still extremely impressed with the fact that they made a demo like this like

00:50:29I don't think I've ever played a demo that lasted this long the only thing
00:50:54that even came close was I had a demo for a pinball game once and the demo was
00:51:06just you were allowed to play but if you wanted other pinball machines you had to
00:51:18buy them so oh no we don't want to do that yet stash is not available okay
00:51:31what is this I think one of these is oh man I'm getting stuck this really makes
00:51:40like the style really reminds me of Technomancer and I like that because I
00:51:45enjoyed Technomancer
00:51:50my museum's free for looking

00:53:33used to be we thought was keeping these for generations to come one of these see
00:53:43our movies our stories how we lived and loved now it all may as well never have

00:54:14because I don't like my helmet so I think I'm gonna go for that

00:54:32character's face because why go to the well at least in games where you
00:54:37customize them because honestly why go to the trouble of customizing your
00:54:42character and then cover up the customization right I get just seems
00:54:49kind of silly doesn't it
00:54:54ok so we've got that terrestrial pioneer clip size where do we have that compare
00:55:02off compare on there we go 5040 rpm not a big deal damage is up reload is a
00:55:12little bit longer and it's not terrible
00:55:15accuracy is up quite a bit stability is up range is up let's give it a shot

01:03:00sorry I'm just this is kind of how I am especially with demos I like to even if
01:03:09I'm kind of enjoying the game like overall I would say this is more
01:03:13enjoyable than not if it wasn't I would just quit but I'm getting enough
01:03:18enjoyment keep coming back at it
01:03:19now with demos usually I'm kind of critical because I'm pointing out all
01:03:23the things that I'm not too keen on just to you know play devil's advocate
01:03:32and see what I what I don't like about the game and then I sort of just match
01:03:40that up with what I do like about the game and then decide if I want to go
01:03:43with it from there
01:03:44now this is kind of a weird demo because it's so long
01:03:48normally you get like what five ten minutes right so it's five ten minutes
01:03:53of okay I don't really like this or I do like that or whatever but this one is
01:03:58really playing out quite a bit and really giving you a lot to check out so
01:04:06far what I do like is I like the overall style
01:04:10I like the world I like the kind of background story of what's going on in
01:04:16this place I don't like the way the story plays out though like it seems
01:04:26how do you put this
01:04:29the background story is cool the way the missions get assigned and stuff is kind
01:04:37of lame I don't like the way like individual combat is fun like the
01:04:48firefight is fun however every single mission is just a straight-up firefight
01:04:56and then you battle a boss maybe but the way you actually go about the combat is
01:05:03the exact same every time and it's kind of boring so again I would say it's
01:05:10definitely designed around multiplayer like if you were playing with someone
01:05:13else and taking a location you could use some tactics and maybe it would be a
01:05:20little bit more interesting but as a single player I would have to say it's
01:05:26it's kind of boring it's like the the playing the missions in the mission
01:05:33zones and such you know I guess I was just expecting something a little bit
01:05:39more solo RPG like but it is what it is right like this is the game that they
01:05:44made and they made it for multiplayer so you can't really fault the developers
01:05:49for that it's just maybe not for me like I'm gonna play through the demo I'm
01:05:54enjoying it enough and I think that it's pretty worthwhile like it's a good
01:05:59chunk of game for free so I'm gonna play through it but yeah I don't see myself
01:06:10actually purchasing this game unless they made some serious changes which I
01:06:15don't think they're gonna do so anyway with that all the ranting aside I just
