Animal Welfare Groups Seek End to Offshore Pigeon Racing

Animal welfare activists are petitioning the government to end the practice of offshore pigeon racing, where pigeons are taken hundreds of kilometers offshore and released to return home in races organized for the purposes of gambling. It has been reported that more than 98% of the birds fail to return.
