00:00Do you know which 80s movie inspired SNL's infamous
00:02S**t in a Box song?
00:03No, it wasn't The Breakfast Club.
00:04S**t in a Box aired nearly 20 years ago, back in 2006,
00:08which was such a long time ago, apparently you couldn't even say the word
00:10s**t on TV without it being bleeped?
00:12In a recent episode of The Lonely Island and Seth Meyers podcast,
00:15the musical comedy trio revealed that the SNL host that week,
00:18Justin Timberlake, had approached them wanting to do a song.
00:20So they decided to try their hands at an early 90s R&B sounding track,
00:24even before landing on a comedic premise to anchor it.
00:27It wasn't until late Thursday that they hit upon the idea,
00:30partly inspired by a cult classic from the 1980s.
00:33According to Jorma Taccone,
00:34That I was in a corner talking to myself, just being like,
00:37what if a present was a d**k inside a box, like in that movie, Diner?
00:41And then Andy was like, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, what'd you just say?
00:44In one scene, Mickey Rourke inserts his little Mickey into the bottom of a popcorn bucket
00:47during a movie, in order to manipulate his date into groping him.
00:51Incidentally, this also happens at Christmastime,
00:54which is when the Lonely Island sketch happened.
